CHAMBER EVENTS SIZZLE

2015 continues to be an exciting year at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. As we heard at yesterday's Economic Update Breakfast, things are looking up! Dr. Bill Seyfreid, professor of economics at Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business, gave an economic overview that left more than 125 attendees hopeful for the year ahead. Special thanks to Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business for sponsoring the event and to Florida Blue, Winderweedle, Haines, Ward & Woodman, P.A. and Winter Park/Maitland Observer for serving as supporting sponsors. 
 


 

Orlando Health hosted the Chamber's second Business After Hours event for 2015 on February 19 at the Winter Park Farmers' Market. The event provided members with a healthy dose of networking, as well as catered hors d'oeuvres, chair massages and live entertainment by a quintet of Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra members. Thank you, Orlando Health, for hosting a memorable evening for our members!

Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Car Parking
March 20 - 22 

It's that time of year again - the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Car Parking Fundraiser will be held March 20 - 22! We have three lots in the downtown area and we need your help collecting funds, welcoming guests and directing them to parking places. All proceeds support the LWP Scholarship Fund and the establishment of a new endowment! 2-hour shifts will be available from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

"Biking Works" - Bike to Work Day in Winter Park!
 
Join Healthy Central Florida for "Biking Works", the first official Bike to Work Day in Winter Park. This fun, free community-wide event is taking place on Wednesday, March 11 and all are encouraged to commute to work (or school) by bicycle for fitness and fun. 


 
At 4:00 pm there will be a short (approx. 45 minutes) group ride through the city. Meet at 3:30 pm in North Central Park near Garfield Avenue .


At 5:00 pm join the group for a Healthy, Happy Hour, whereby participating Park Avenue restaurants and merchants will be offering discounts for cyclists.


3:30 - 8:00 p.m. Bike Valet - Secure Bike storage will be available from 3:30 - 8:00 pm (eyes on your bikes - so they are safe and secure!) To register or for more information, please visit www.healthycentralflorida.org.

Rollins College: The Rollins College Board of Trustees recently announced last night that it has elected Grant H. Cornwell as the 15th president of Rollins College. Cornwell, who currently serves as president of The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, will begin his Rollins presidency July 1.

 

Rollins College Hamilton Holt School: Only five spots remain for SAT Prep that starts during Orange County spring break (March 23-16; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.). If you know of any high school students who need to get their test scores up, now is your chance!
