WINTER PARK GEARS UP FOR OVATIONS AWARDS
The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, Park Avenue Merchants Association and Winter Park/Maitland Observer joined forces for The Ovations Awards. Presented by CenturyLink, The Ovations held an online poll to determine the 'best of' Winter Park in 50 different categories. Voting took place from mid-November thru December 31, 2014.

Merchant Employee Parking Program

Permits are issued to employers/business owners for distribution to their employees. 2015 hangtags are now available for pick up from the Building & Permitting Services Department located on the 2nd floor of City Hall, Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please bring completed form below with you at time of pickup. The Feed the Need Winter Park campaign continues to gain traction and donations are still being received. The effort is also currently in the running for a grant from Old Florida Bank as part of its CommYOUnity Giving program. Click here to vote. City of Winter Park: The Winter Park Fire-Rescue Department (WPFD) has received "accredited" status with the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). This award completes the department's second independent accreditation process. Being conferred an "accredited agency" with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) since 2001, and now most recently with the CAAS, makes Winter Park only the second fire department in the United States to achieve these two independent accreditations and hold an Insurance Service Office Class 1 rating.
Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A.: The firm has raised over $102,000 for the Heart of Florida United Way (HFUW) 2013-14 campaign through its workplace campaign and other donations made by firm employees. The firm has been named among the Top Giving Organizations for the HFUW campaign since 1998, and it has also led the professional division for over 21 years.
Rollins College: Beginning January 19, the college will host a series of educational events to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. All events are free, open to the public and will be held at Rollins College, which is located at 1000 Holt Ave., Winter Park, Fla. 32789. There's No Place Like Home: Art Inspired by Winter Park's Historic Architecture January 8 - 18; 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum
Local artists will reveal their architectural inspirations through a variety of mediums during a juried art exhibit. The exhibit will celebrate Winter Park's historic architecture - past and present - and elevate the discussion on the importance of historic preservation. All art chosen for display will be for sale, with 20% of the proceeds to benefit the Casa Feliz Historic Home Museum.

The Winter Park Institute will host former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young who will share his personal Civil Rights legacy as well as his views about the movement's current status. The first in a series of public lectures which feature recognized scholars in the field of late-19th and early-20th century decorative art will address topics related to the Morse Museum's new exhibition Revival and Reform-Eclecticism in the 19th-century Environment. Stand: Untold Stories of the Civil Rights Movement shares the compelling back story which features many civil rights foot soldiers often overlooked in other narratives.
