New Director of SLP Program Welcomed
Dean Audrey Smith of Salus University's College of Education and Rehabilitation recently announced the appointment of Kathleen Youse, PhD, CCC-SLP, BC-ANCDS, as chair and program director of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology, effective August 1. Dr. Youse has strong experience in accreditation procedures among program and policy development. PEI Welcomes New Clinical Director
Lindsay M. Bondurant, PhD, has been named director of the Pennsylvania Ear Institute (PEI) of Salus University. Dr. Bondurant brings over 15 years of experience as a clinical audiologist and educational professional. As director, she will guide the day-to-day management of PEI including clinical operations, audiology clinical education and patient care. Street Smarts: O&M Street Lessons 
The loss of vision frequently brings the inability to carry out everyday activities required for living independently. As a result, the University's College of Education and Rehabilitation (CER) goes above and beyond in order to educate students in the field of Blindness and Low Vision studies. To better understand the increased needs and challenges of current and future clients, students from the University's Master of Science degree program in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) are educated in safe and independent travel through a unique blend of online classes, lectures, and practical fieldwork, exposing them to a truly comprehensive experience. Read more

Each summer, the Osborne College of Audiology hosts two four day workshops combining inspiring lectures and hands-on experience specifically designed for current audiology practitioners, educators, and clinicians. Read more

National Optometric Association Convention


The National Optometric Association (NOA) recently held its 48th annual convention in Chicago, IL. Faculty and students from Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) were in attendance as several members of the PCO chapter of the National Optometric Student Association (NOSA)  received esteemed awards.  Read more
Salus Summer Concert 
On a warm Friday in July, the smell of hamburgers and hotdogs filled the air as students, faculty, staff, and guests gathered for the first-ever Salus Summer Concert, presented by the Campus Activities Committee. The concert, hosted nearby at the Abington Art Center, was provided at no charge to guests; donations were accepted in support of the students' interdisciplinary screening fund.  Read more

Inaugural Blindness and Low Vision Studies Alumna of the Year
At an alumni and friends reception held on July 8, Maureen Duffy, MS '90, CVRT, was presented with the inaugural Salus University Blindness and Low Vision Studies Alumna of the Year Award. Ms. Duffy dedicated over 17 years to building the Vision Rehabilitation Therapy program (VRT) at the University, as well as educating students and vision rehabilitation professionals across the country. Remembering G�rard Cottet
The Salus University community was saddened by the passing of a true visionary in the ophthalmic industry, G�rard Cottet. He will forever be remembered for his hard work and significant contributions to optometry and the ophthalmic industry as a whole and will be missed by many. Read more
SLI Celebrates One Year
The Speech-Language Institute (SLI) of Salus University recently celebrated its first anniversary since opening its doors for client care in July 2015. SLI's success has been guided by strong University leadership, dedicated faculty, staff, and clinical educators, and is defined by passionate students who believe that speech-language pathology plays a fundamental role in meeting the needs of those with communication disorders. The American Optometric Association recently held its 119th annual congress, Optometry's Meeting, in Boston, MA. Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) faculty, alumni, students, and staff were in attendance.

Upcoming Caf� Modifications
To alleviate congestion in the Caf� at lunchtime and during breaks, some programs will undergo changes to their schedules this fall to accommodate lunch breaks from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.  As a result, the Caf� will expand its hours from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm. 
"Looking Out for Kids": Giving Children a Better Future Through Improved Vision 
For decades, Salus University has been committed to providing comprehensive vision care services to disadvantaged children in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities. Through its "Looking Out for Kids" (LOFK) vision care initiative, the University has helped thousands of children by ensuring they receive the vision care necessary for their educational success.  Read more
