Holiday Party Recognizes
Employees' Service

The University's holiday party was held on December 18 in the Hafter Center. Always a time for old friends and new colleagues to enjoy one another's company, this annual event also allows faculty and staff to be recognized for their years of service.
With a buffet luncheon provided by Williamson's Culinart staff and DJ Darryl Burrs from the Office of Technology and Library Services keeping things moving with his announcements and music, the afternoon was a great success.  List of honorees

Reconnect with classmates, faculty, students, and enjoy entertaining activities including the weekend's Celebration and Awards Dinner, campus tours and more.
It's a weekend of fun-filled experiences, friends, and learning!

Transitions at College of Education
and Rehabilitation
Dean Audrey Smith, PhD, has announced several recent transitions within the College.
Department chair and occupational therapy (OT) director, Dr. Fern Silverman, will transition to the position of director of the new post-professional occupational therapy doctoral degree (OTD) program.
Dr. Lauren Sponsellor, assistant professor, will transition to the positions of OT department chair and director of the OT master's degree (MSOT) program.
Brianna Brim, OTR/L, instructor, is the new OT fieldwork coordinator.
In her announcement, Dean Smith also congratulated Mr. Robert Serianni and Ms. Patricia Mayro, and welcomed Dr. Kyomi Gregory. After founding Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) department chair Dr. Carolyn Mayo's retirement at the end of 2015, Mr. Serianni was appointed interim SLP chair and interim director of the SLP master's degree program. Ms. Mayro has been appointed interim assistant director of the University's Speech-Language Institute, the SLP program's clinical facility.
Dr. Gregory joined the SLP faculty last month. She obtained her PhD from Louisiana State University and specializes in pediatric speech-language disorders.
Salus Student Ambassadors Debut

Pictured above are the 2015-2016 Ambassadors, back row, bottom to top:
Alexa Ives '19OD; Kaitlyn Kolzow '19OD; Bridget Turnbach '17SLP; Alyssa Carpenter '19OD; Taylor Buotte '19AUD and Christopher Albright '19 OD. First row (L to R): Erica Bonnell '19OD; Kevin McClure '19OD
The demand for student help at University-related events is frequent. The supply of students who are articulate, well-versed in the Salus mission and history and are willing to occasionally give up their precious free time to represent their school and their program at on and off-campus events is limited. The Office of Student Affairs recognized this need over the summer and went into action. The result? Salus University now has a select group of first-year students from different programs who serve as Salus University Student Ambassadors at events both on and off the campus.
Salus Keynote Speakers at Military Medical Symposium

Pictured above are the afternoon's speakers, left to right: Dr. Barker; Capt. Ann Cloud, RN, BSN; CDR. Wesley Emmons, MD, USN; Major Estelle Murray, USAF, Dr. Monaco.
The University was well represented with three invited speakers at the Delaware Military Medicine Association Symposium held in November. Salus president, Dr. Michael H. Mittelman, retired Rear Admiral and former deputy surgeon general of the US Navy, gave the morning's keynote address on global health and military operations. Dr. William Monaco, associate dean for Graduate Programs in Biomedicine, introduced the afternoon's keynote speaker, Salus professor emeritus, Dr. Felix Barker. Now the current associate director of Research for the Department of Defense Veterans Administration Vision Center of Excellence, Dr. Barker spoke about traumatic brain injury (TBI) and vision performance.
OT Students Give Back to Community

Before the holidays, members of the Salus chapter of SOTA (Student Occupational Therapy Association) spearheaded a collection of non-perishable food goods for local radio station WMMR on-air personalities Preston and Steve's annual Campout for Hunger campaign. SOTA members also collected household items and toiletries to donate to A Woman's Place, a Bucks County shelter for victims of domestic violence.
Pictured above are SOTA members: Left to right, back row: Class of 2016 students Lauren Frabizzio; Rajvi Vora; Lindsey Britt; Brianna Dudeck; Jing Or; Class of 2017 students Angela Wan; Melissa Tucker; Kendall Seymour.
