Prevent Cancer Foundation 2016 Prevent Cancer GrantThe Prevent Cancer Foundation is solely devoted to cancer prevention and early detection. Applicants must be early career researchers at the instructor or assistant professor level, or more senior researchers who have shifted their area of interest toward primary and secondary cancer prevention. Applicants who applied in a previous cycle and wish to resubmit their project for reconsideration may do so only 1 time. Basic science grants must demonstrate substantial potential for impact on cancer prevention or early detection (specifically, pre-clinical research is acceptable but must be prevention-oriented and clearly identifiable as translational). Studies related to therapy for established or advanced cancer will not be reviewed. Amount: $50,000/ year for 2 years Deadline: August 8, 2016
American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) AGA-R. Robert & Sally Funderburg Research Award in Gastric CancerThe overall objective of this award is to support an established investigator in the field of gastric biology whose research will enhance the fundamental understanding of gastric cancer pathobiology in order to ultimately prevent or develop a cure for the disease. Candidates for this award must hold a full-time faculty position be established as an independent investigator in the field of gastric biology. Women and minority investigators are strongly encouraged to apply. AGA membership is required at the time of application submission. Amount: $100,000 for 2 years Deadline: August 12, 2016
Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research Seed Grant Award ProgramThe Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research is dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research, and providing information, resources, and support to pancreatic cancer patients and their families. The Seed Grant Award Program provides start-up funding for basic scientists and clinicians who intend to test innovative ideas for improving diagnosis and to develop new treatment modalities for pancreatic cancer. All levels of academic faculty (assistant, associate and full professors) are eligible, including postdoctoral fellows and young investigators after they have 2 years of completed training in pancreatic cancer research. Alex's Lemonade Stand Discovery Grant: Independent Nurse ResearcherAlex's Lemonade Stand Foundation Nursing Grant Program is designed to encourage nursing research at various levels of practice. The Discovery Grant category aims to support independent and experienced nurse researchers to investigate topics and issues related to the quality of nursing care and the quality of life for children with cancer. Demonstration of a career that shows commitment to pediatric cancer nursing is a critical component of a successful application. The applicant must have completed a master's or doctoral degree in nursing, have a minimum of 7 years experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing. Amount: $100,000 for 2 years Deadline: August 24, 2016
The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) LRF Clinical Investigator Career Development AwardThe LRF Clinical Investigator Career Development Award (CDA) Program is designed to support physician investigators at the level of advanced fellow or junior faculty member who will contribute to the development of new lymphoma therapies and diagnostic tools. All projects must be focused on hypothesis-driven clinical research in lymphoma. The applicant must be an advanced fellow or junior faculty member with at least 2 years (24 months) of fellowship or postdoctoral training and no greater than 5 years of experience beyond completion of his/her fellowship or post-doctoral training at the start of the award period. Individuals with non-traditional career tracks are encouraged to apply. The applicant may not simultaneously receive another competitive career development award (such as NIH K series awards, ASH Physician-Scientist Career Development Awards, American Cancer Society Mentored Research Scholar Grants, and equivalents) during the period of the LRF grant. Amount: $225,000 over 3 years Deadline: August 31, 2016
Wipe Out Kids' Cancer (WOKC) Research GrantsWOKC provides grants to support meritorious research ranging from basic laboratory investigation to clinical management of pediatric cancers. Research Grants are offered to encourage the development of new information that contributes to the understanding, treatment, and cure of pediatric cancers. In addition, consideration will be given to those projects that provide insight into information that may contribute to the development of new therapies for pediatric cancers. Information derived from these studies should have high potential for sustainable future support from other funding agencies, such as NIH. Applicants must be independent investigators. Prevent Cancer Foundation
The Prevent Cancer Foundation supports research grants and fellowships for research that demonstrates potential for impact on cancer prevention. The Foundation defines cancer prevention as the "reduction of cancer incidence through research, education and early detection". Awards are limited to postdoctoral level applicants only. Therefore, only graduate students who will have their doctoral degree before the project start date are eligible to apply. Basic science grants must demonstrate substantial potential for impact on cancer prevention or early detection (specifically, pre-clinical research is acceptable but must be prevention-oriented and clearly identifiable as translational). Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) HFSPO supports innovative basic research into fundamental biological problems, with emphasis placed on novel approaches that cross disciplinary boundaries. Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants in a biological discipline who will broaden their expertise by proposing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different from their previous work or postdoctoral work. Applicants must have at least 1 lead author research paper - either accepted for publication, in press, or published-in an international peer-reviewed journal by August 25, 2016 in order to be eligible to apply. A Ph.D.is no required at the time of application, but must be conferred by the start of the fellowship. Applicants cannot have spent more than 12 months in the proposed host country as of the earliest start date of the fellowship (April 1, 2017). Applicants who, on April 1, 2017, have spent more than 12 months (consecutive or not) with their proposed host supervisor are not eligible. Applicants cannot propose to return to an institution where they have worked in the past if they plan to pursue the same or a similar project. Fellows cannot concurrently hold a LTF or CDF and another paid fellowship or employment position (i.e. salary support) from another organization. The awards will support a two-year period of mentored research that integrates mechanistic studies with biologically-based research. Research priorities of particular interest to the Foundation are uterine and cervical carcinomas. At least 75% effort should be devoted to research during the tenure of the award. Foundation for Women's Cancer American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ABOG) Young Investigator Career Development Award The purpose of the award is to support, attract and train promising clinical scientists who are embarking on careers dedicated to gynecologic cancer research. This funding mechanism offers two different research focus areas: 1) Basic/Translational; and 2) Clinical. Research priorities of particular interest to ABOG are ovarian, cervical, and uterine carcinomas. At least 75% effort should be devoted to research during the tenure of the award. Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation
The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation funds early career cancer researchers who have the energy, drive and creativity to become leading innovators in their fields. The Foundation encourages all theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention. Level 1 Funding: Basic and physician-scientists must have received their degrees no more than one year prior to the FAC meeting at which their applications are to be considered. Applicants must not have been in their Sponsors' labs for more than one year prior to the date of the FAC meeting at which their applications are to be considered and are expected to devote 100% of their time and effort to Damon Runyon supported research activities. Level 2 Funding: Physician-scientist applicants must have completed their residencies and clinical training at the start date of the Damon Runyon fellowship, and be able to devote at least 80% of their time and effort to Damon Runyon supported research activities. Applicants may apply at any time prior to their initial assistant professorship appointment (or equivalent); postdoctoral fellows, clinical fellows and clinical instructors are eligible to apply. Candidates holding or awarded NIH K awards at the time of application are not eligible to apply. Applicants holding institutional K12 awards may apply, but must turn-back K12 funding if they are awarded a Damon Runyon Fellowship. Amount: Based on stipend level

The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF)
The LRF maintains a strong commitment to supporting young investigators and ensuring they can build a successful career in the field of lymphoma research. The LRF Postdoctoral Fellowship Grant is designed to support investigators at the level of advanced fellow or postdoctoral researcher in laboratory or clinic based research with results and conclusions that must be clearly relevant to the treatment, diagnosis or prevention of Hodgkin and/or non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Historically, successful applications in this program have focused on basic, translational, and epidemiological research. The Fellow must spend 80 percent of their time in research during the award period. Applicants must have completed at least two years of their fellowship work but not more than 5 years at the start of the award period. Individuals holding faculty positions prior to March 1, 2017 are not eligible to apply.
Amount: $105,000 for 2 years
Deadline: August 31, 2016
