Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC)
Bridge Project
The Koch Institute  (KI)-DF/HCC Bridge Project is designed  to help  bring  the  expertise of these two Centers to bear on complex translational problems in cancer research. A particular emphasis is placed on fostering joint approaches  by  engineers  and  cancer  scientists,  both  basic  and  clinical/translational. Teams must  be composed of at least one member of the Koch Institute at MIT (or MIT faculty  member) and one member of DF/HCC. Faculty  members who have Bridge Funding are not eligible to apply, unless the amount of total funding is less than $187,500/year. Please notify us by email  (ki-­bridge@mit.edu) before September 15, 2014 if you plan to submit a Bridge  Project. 
Amount: $375,000/ year for 2 years
Deadline: October 1, 2014

Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF)
Grants for Mesothelioma Research
MARF supports projects dedicated to ending the suffering caused by mesothelioma. Eligible projects may relate to benchwork, translational or clinical research that is not presently funded. We encourage all levels and degrees of scientists to apply.
Amount: $50,000/ year for 2 years
Deadline: August 8, 2014

American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) 
R. Robert & Sally Funderburg Research Award in Gastric Cancer

AGA supports the research of an established investigator working on novel approaches to gastric cancer. The overall objective of this award is to enhance the fundamental understanding of gastric cancer pathobiology in order to ultimately prevent or develop a cure for the disease. AGA membership is required at the time of application submission. 

Amount: $50,000/ year for 2 years 

Deadline: August 29, 2014   

 

Wipe Out Kids' Cancer (WOKC)

Research Grants 

WOKC offers Research Grants to encourage the development of new information that contributes to the understanding, treatment, and cure of pediatric cancers. Research Grant applications should focus on basic science research or clinical research. Applicants must be independent investigators, or clinical or research receiving direct oversight/mentorship by an independent investigator. Applicants need not be U.S. Citizens or hold a U.S. permanent visa to apply for this award.
Amount: Up to $150,000 for 1 year
Deadline: August 29, 2014 
 

Celgene  

2014 Awards for Clinical Research in Hematology

Career Achievement Award 

Celgene is committed to developing and supporting investigators who seek to advance knowledge in the field of Hematology. Clinicians will be awarded with a research grant to further additional hematology research and related education.The Career Achievement Award will be presented to an institution in recognition of a clinician's research that has contributed greatly to the hematology field throughout his or her career. 

Amount: $25,000 for 1 year
Deadline: August 30, 2014

All applications are due into the Office of Grants and Contracts five business days prior to the sponsor's deadline for DFCI review and approval prior to submission to the sponsor. 
 
Non-Federal Funding - Fellowships
 

Uniting Against Lung Cancer (UALC)

Legacy Program for Advances in Lung Cancer Research 

UALC funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising and potentially transformative new projects for research aimed at increasing survival for patients with lung cancers. Proposals should be focused on translational science, using clinically relevant biospecimens when possible and incorporate predictive biomarkers or response or resistance as appropriate. Applicants are not required to be U.S. citizens.

Amount: $50,000/ year for 2 years

Deadline: August 13, 2014 

 

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation

Fellowship Award 

The Foundation encourages applications relating to all theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention. No more than two Damon Runyon Fellows will be funded to work with the same Sponsor at any given time. Only one fellowship application will be accepted from a Sponsor or Fellow per review session; there is no limit, however, to the number of applications from an institution. Candidates who have already accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship award are not eligible.  

Amount: Up to $186,000 for 3 years 

Deadline: August 15, 2014 

 

American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) 

Fellowship to Faculty Transition Awards 

AGA prepares physician-scientists for independent basic science research careers in digestive diseases. Candidates must have completed at least one year of research training in their current laboratory prior to the start of this award. Candidates must be AGA Trainee Members and be sponsored by an AGA Member at the time of application. Candidates must devote at least 70% effort to research related to the gastrointestinal tract or liver. At the time of application submission, candidates may not hold another award with overlapping scientific objectives. If a candidate is granted the award and notified of a comparable award on a similar topic from another agency prior to the first payment of this award, the recipient must select one of the two awards.

Amount: $40,000/ year for 2 years 

Deadline: August 31, 2014
