Career Catalyst Research Grants (CCR)-Basic and Translational ResearchCCR grants are intended to foster promising breast cancer researchers who are in the early
stages of their faculty careers by providing support for up to three years of "protected time" for research career
development under the guidance of a mentor committee. This award mechanism is appropriate for both basic or clinical faculty members proposing research projects that are laboratory- or field- based and do not meet Komen's definition of clinical research. Studies focusing on quality of life or survivorship issues are not appropriate for this mechanism. Applicant must not currently hold or simultaneously apply for a Komen Investigator-Initiated Research Grant and must not simultaneously hold a Komen Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) Grant. If a PDF grant is currently held, the PDF grant term must expire before the start of the CCR if funded. If the Applicant is the recipient of a previous Komen CCR grant, the awarded CCR must end within 3 months of receiving Notification of Intent to Fund for the FY15 cycle or the funding will be withdrawn. Individual must not currently be a Principal Investigator on an existing R01 research grant. Applicant must commit at least 75% of full-time effort to research during each year of the grant period.
Amount: $150,000/ year for 3 years
Deadline: LOI; July 17, 2014

Career Catalyst Research Grants (CCR)-Clinical ResearchCCR-Clinical Research Grants provide support to clinician-scientists for hypothesis-driven clinical research projects that have the significant potential to advance our understanding of breast cancer, lead to reductions in breast cancer incidence and/or mortality, and move us toward the goal of a world without breast cancer.
Komen defines Clinical research as hypothesis driven, patient-oriented research for which an investigator directly interacts with human subjects/patients, in conjunction with laboratory-based research, as appropriate.
American Heart Association (AHA)
National Innovative Research Grant (IRG)AHA supports applications that could ultimately lead to critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate the field of cardiovascular and stroke research. Candidates with a faculty (or faculty equivalent) appointment are eligible to apply. Awards are not intended to supplement or duplicate currently funded work. The project submitted can have no scientific or budgetary overlap with other funded work. An applicant may submit one National IRG application and one other National application per deadline.
Amount: $75,000/ year for 2 years
Deadline: July 24, 2014
Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation
CLARIONS GrantThe Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation is accepting applications from investigators working on innovative cutaneous lymphoma research projects. The foundation prioritizes research in the areas of etiology and risk factors of cutaneous lymphomas, measures of disease impact on individuals and populations affected by cutaneous lymphomas, translating discoveries into diagnostic and therapeutic advances in cutaneous lymphomas, and optimizing therapies for cutaneous lymphomas. Investigators at all levels, from clinical and post-doctoral fellows to established investigators are eligible to receive awards.
Amount: $25,000 over 1 year
Deadline: July 31, 2014
American Cancer Society (ACS)
Clinical Research Professor GrantsACS offers grants to established investigators in mid-career who have made seminal contributions that have changed the direction of clinical, psychosocial, behavioral, health policy or epidemiologic cancer research. Furthermore, it is expected that these investigators will continue to provide leadership in their research area.
Amount: $80,000/ year for 5 years
Deadline: LOI; August 1, 2014
American Gastroenterological Association (AGA)
R. Robert & Sally Funderburg Research Award in Gastric CancerAGA supports the research of an established investigator working on novel approaches to gastric cancer. The overall objective of this award is to enhance the fundamental understanding of gastric cancer pathobiology in order to ultimately prevent or develop a cure for the disease. AGA membership is required at the time of application submission.
