Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) SPORE (Specialized Program of Research Excellence) in Brain Cancer
Development Research Award
The Neuro-Oncology Program at DF/HCC is seeking applications for developmental research projects focused on adult or pediatric gliomas. Funding will be provided through the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-sponsored SPORE mechanism. Applicants must be faculty members of Harvard Medical School or the Harvard School of Public Health at the level of Instructor or higher. Applications should be submitted to Leah Hesse, lhesse@mgh.harvard.edu. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) Bridge Grants
ALSF's Bridge Grant is designed to sustain research projects falling between the end of funding by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) R or P Award and the beginning of a competitively renewed NIH Award. Project must have been previously funded by NIH R01, R03, R21 or P01 Award. R01 Supplements are not eligible for Bridge Grants. Researchers must have applied to the NIH for an R01 or P01 renewal for an ongoing project or to continue the project via new R01 or P01 and received notification dated within the last 6 months. The R01 application must have scored ≤35th percentile but outside of the agency's fundable range. The original NIH project must be aligned with ALSF's mission, and thus must be directly relevant to pediatric cancer. Amount: $100,000 for 1 year

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) Springboard Grants ALSF's Springboard Grant is designed to support new National Institutes of Health (NIH) R01 or P01 research projects which scored less than or equal to the 25th percentile but were not funded. R01 Supplements are not eligible for Springboard Grants. Applications must have scored ≤25% but outside of the agency's fundable range. If submitting a project from an NIH P01 application, the project must have scored at 3.0 or better in the initial review. The original NIH application must be aligned with ALSF's mission, and thus must be directly relevant to pediatric cancer. Amount: $100,000 for 1 year Deadline: April 10, 2014
Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF) Woman to Woman OCRF is designed to support scientific research that leads to more effective identification, treatment and ultimately a cure for ovarian cancer. Woman to Woman seeks to improve the quality of care for gynecologic cancer patients by strengthening coping capacities through a patient-to-patient support model. To ensure the success of the program, each Woman to Woman program must have the support of a physician champion in the gynecologic oncology department, who will assist in referring appropriate patients to the program, as well as ensure support from departmental and hospital leadership. It is expected that each Woman to Woman program will become self-funding after the first year. Amount: $50,000 for 1 year Deadline: May 1, 2014
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) High Impact Grant
PCRF is designed to fill the critical need for start-up funds for young researchers to pursue exciting research ideas. These awards are for scientists focused on innovative research offering the greatest potential to design treatments and improve outcomes for children with difficult -to-treat cancers. Grants can be renewed annually. Amount: $75,000 for 1 year. Deadline: May 1, 2014
American Society of Hematology (ASH) Junior Faculty Scholar Awards ASH Scholar Awards are designed to support hematologists who have chosen a career in research by providing partial salary or other support during that critical period required for completion of training and achievement of status as an independent investigator. Scholar Award applicants are required to be members of ASH. If your membership application is pending at the time of the Scholar Award application deadline, you will still be considered for a Scholar Award. Eligible applicants must be a citizen of the United States or Canada or hold a visa in the United States or Canada. MD, PhD or MD/PhD applicants must have more than 5 but fewer than 10 years of research experience after completion of their PhD (including research performed during fellowship, but excluding clinical fellowship time). Amount: $150,000 over 2-3 years Deadline: LOI; May 1, 2014
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) Reach Awards The purpose of the Reach Award is to advance ALSF's mission to find cures and better treatments for childhood cancers by providing support to move hypothesis-driven research into the clinic. The goal of this award is to support selected "late translational" studies needed to ultimately initiate a clinical trial. Preference will be given to those research projects which, if funded, will result in the initiation of a clinical trial within two to three years. Awards are not renewable. Amount: $250,000 over 2 years Deadline: May 30, 2014

Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF)
2014 Research Fellow AwardMMRF seeks proposals for MMRF 2014 Research Fellow Award Program, an initiative supporting researchers at the post doctorate/medical fellow or junior faculty levels. This project helps support young investigators as they begin their studies in the field of multiple myeloma. Post-doctoral and medical fellows must work under the supervision or guidance of a research mentor in the multiple myeloma field.
Amount: $75,000 for 1 year

Amount: Up to $100,000 over 2-3 years Deadline: LOI; May 1, 2014 Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) 'A' Awards The 'A' award is a three-year grant designed for the early career scientist who wants to establish their career in pediatric oncology research. Applicants must be no more than 6 years after finishing a 3-year fellowship at the time the award would start (i.e. fellowship ended in 2008 or later) and be no more than 12 years since receiving the most recent professional degree (Ph.D, M.D., D.O., MBBS or equivalent). A minimum of 75% of the applicant's time during 'A' award must be allocated as protected time for all research activities. Applicants holding K99/R00, R01 are not eligible. Applicants currently holding an ALSF 2013 Young Investigator Award or are Center of Excellence Scholars are not eligible. Applicants currently holding ALSF's Innovation, Reach, Phase I/II Infrastructure or Epidemiology grants are not eligible to apply for the 2014 'A' Award.
