Harvard Medical School/Harvard Dental School Office of Faculty Affairs
Eleanor and Miles Shore 50th Anniversary Fellowship Program for Scholars in Medicine
The purpose of the Fellowship Program is to enhance the quality and diversity of the Harvard Medical School faculty at all ranks. While both men and women may apply, this support is an important part of the effort at HMS to increase the representation of women at the higher ranks in the Faculty of Medicine. The intention of the Fellowship is to support academic activities.
Amount:$30,000 to $50,000/ year for 2 years

Non-Federal Funding - Grants

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)
Translational Research Program
The LLS funds new and innovative research that shows high promise for translating basic biomedical knowledge to clinical application. This program is intended to provide support over an initial three year period and two additional years may be available through the renewal application to solidify progress made in the initial award and further support a clinical trial.
Amount: $200,000/ year for 3 years
Deadline: LOI: February 15, 2014

Leukemia Research Foundation
 
The Leukemia Research Foundation provides support for new investigators. Preference given to proposals that focus on leukemia, lymphoma, MDS, and multiple myeloma. Applicants with an NIH K08 or K23 are eligible.
Amount: $100,000 for 1 year
Deadline: February 17, 2014 

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation
Clinical Investigator Award 
The Damon Runyon Clinical Investigator Award supports independent young physician-scientists conducting disease-oriented research. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. Only one clinical investigator award application will be accepted from a mentor (including co-mentorships) or candidate per review session. The applicant must apply within the first 4 years of his/her initial full faculty appointment (cut-off July 2010). Candidates holding or awarded R01s at the time of application are not eligible to apply.
Amount: $150,000/ year for 3 years

A-T Children's Project
A-T Children's Project Research Grant Program 
The A-T Children's Project strives to assist respected scientists in developing a clearer understanding of ataxia-telangiectasia. The project provides competitive grant awards for basic and translational  research grants related to A-T. One-and two-year projects are funded up to a maximum total direct cost of $75,000 per year. No administrative or overhead costs are supported.
Amount: $75,000/ year for 2 years

Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN)
Young Investigator Award
BCAN supports investigators who are within 6 years following completion of a professional degree or clinical training. The goal of these grants is to support the development of outstanding research scientists and clinical cancer research investigators who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the understanding and treatment of bladder cancer. These grants fund researchers who work in basic, translational, clinical, epidemiologic, bioengineering or any other scientific or research field, but are also working in a research environment capable of supporting transformational bladder cancer research.Proof of permanent resident status or a valid a work visa is required if the applicant is not an American or Canadian citizen.

: $50,000/ year for 2 years

Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF)
2014 Senior Research Award
MMRF supports investigators with more than five years of experience in blood cancer research. The goal of this initiative is to accelerate the development of therapeutic approaches for myeloma and may include proposals in basic science, validation, or translation research. Applicants must be committed to a career that focuses primarily on academic radiation oncology. If you are a junior faculty member, you must name a primary mentor who will be equally responsible for the planning, direction, and execution of the study.
Amount: Up to $100,00/ year for 2 years

American Society for Radiation Oncology
American Society for Radiation Oncology/ROI Comparative Effectiveness Research Award
The American Society for Radiation Oncology aims to stimulate research focused on evaluating the effectiveness, complication profile, cost and cost-effectiveness of various radiation therapy treatments, as well as the comparative effectiveness when compared to other therapies. At least 40 percent of the recipient's full-time professional effort must be devoted to the goals of this award.
Amount: $50,000 for 2 years
Deadline: March 28, 2014

American Cancer Society(ACS)
Mentored Research Scholar Grant
The ACS provides support for independent, self-directed researchers within six years of their first academic appointment. The ACS' extramural grants program seeks to support innovative cancer research across a wide range of disciplines to meet critically important needs in the control of cancer.
Amount: $198,000/per year for 4 years
Deadline: April 1, 2014

All applications are due into the Office of Grants and Contracts five business days prior to the sponsor's deadline for DFCI review and approval prior to submission to the sponsor. 
 
Non-Federal Funding - Fellowships

The Sass Foundation
Postdoctoral Fellowship
This award provides funding
to bright young post-doctoral fellows to pursue innovative ideas that have the potential to develop into independent investigators with sustained extramural NIH type funding. Open to investigators with more than 1 year postdoctoral training at the time of award. The mentor should have established record as an established independent investigator. Applicant from a mentor's laboratory whose fellow has received award from the Foundation are ineligible.

Amount: $50,000/ year for to up to 2 years

Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation 

Damon Runyon Fellowship Award

The Foundation encourages all theoretical and experimental research relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention. No more than two Damon Runyon and/or Damon Runyon-Sohn Fellows will be funded to work with the same Sponsor at any given time. Candidates who have already accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship award are not eligible for the March deadline. Applicants may apply to either the Damon Runyon Postdoctoral Award or the Damon Runyon-Sohn Pediatric Fellowship Award, not for both. 

Amount: $62,000/ year for 3 years

This award provides funding to basic scientists and clinicians who conduct research with the potential to significantly impact the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of one or more pediatric cancers. No more than two Damon Runyon and/or Damon Runyon-Sohn Fellows will be funded to work with the same sponsor at any given time. Only one fellowship application will be accepted from a Sponsor or Fellow per review session for the March deadline. Applicants may apply to either the Damon Runyon Postdoctoral Award or the Damon Runyon-Sohn Pediatric Fellowship Award, not for both.
Amount: $62,000/ year for 3 years

American Cancer Society (ACS)
Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Grants Program seeks to support innovative cancer research across a wide range of disciplines to meet critically important needs in the control of cancer. This award is to support the training of researchers who have received a doctoral degree to provide initial funding leading to an independent career in cancer research (including basic, preclinical, clinical, cancer control, psychosocial, behavioral, epidemiology, health services and health policy research).
Amount: $163,500 over 3 years
Deadline: April 1, 2014
