Provides seed monies for junior investigators working on traditional clinical studies examining methods of improving patient care and/or treatment for lung disease. - Dalsemer Research Grant (1 grant available): $40,000/yr.
Provide seed monies for junior investigators researching interstitial lung disease.

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)
Kure It-AACR Grant for Kidney Cancer Research
This grant will support an innovative translational research project designed to improve the survival and quality of life of patients with kidney cancer and lead to individualized therapeutic options for treatment or the development of promising new cancer therapeutics for kidney cancer patients. Emphasis will be placed on proposed projects which will translate into clinical applications within a few year period.
AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR active membership by Thursday, November 21, 2013.

American Liver Foundation
Liver Scholar Award
This award provides young scientists with support for their research to bridge the gap between completion of research training and attainment of status as an independent research scientist. The additional research experience provided by this award is intended to enable them to successfully compete for research awards from national sources, particularly the NIH. The award is intended to develop the potential of outstanding, young scientists and encourage research in liver physiology and disease. Individuals who are already well-established in the field are not eligible for this award.

Melanoma Research Grants
Applications will be accepted for a broad range of melanoma research projects involving basic science, clinical trials, etc. Special consideration will be given in two areas: 1) emerging novel concepts that constitute significant innovation and 2) new investigators in the field of melanoma.

Aflac Inc. Career Development Award for Pediatric Cancer Research
The AACR-Aflac Inc. Career Development Award for Pediatric Cancer Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support junior faculty who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term) to conduct pediatric cancer research and establish successful career paths in this field. Research projects may be in any discipline of basic, clinical, translational, or epidemiological research with direct applicability and relevance to pediatric cancer. AACR membership is required. Alex's Lemonade Stand FoundationEpidemiology GrantsThis award provides funds that will support investigators pursuing epidemiological research aimed at improving our understanding of childhood cancer. This award is designed to support the research that focuses on 1) the epidemiology, early detection or prevention of childhood cancer or 2) comparative effectiveness and outcomes research related to detection, prevention and treatment. Eligible areas of investigation using an epidemiological approach include the following: Epidemiology and etiology of childhood cancer, Early Detection of Childhood Cancer, Prevention of Childhood Cancer, Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research.
