DFCI Limited Applications

 

The next DFCI Limited Application deadline will include St. Baldrick's Foundation funding programs. Please review their current programs and research priorities to prepare for their announcement in December which has a tight turn-around-time.

St. Baldricks funds lifesaving research that focuses on all major types of childhood cancers and funding is based solely on scientific merit, after a rigorous review process to determine the most promising research.

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) 

DFCI is inviting applications for the following awards made available by the Friends for Life Neuroblastoma Fellowship and Research Program. 

 

Friends for Life Fellowship

This application is open to all fellows at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.Project must be directly relevant to neuroblastoma and related disorders. 

Amount: $50,000 for 2 years

Deadline:  November 15, 2013


Friends for Life Research Grant

This application is open to all faculty at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Project must be directly relevant to neuroblastoma and related disorders. 

Amount: $100,000 for 2 years

Deadline:  November 15, 2013


Each application requires: a four page description of the research project, a one page description in lay terms, proposed budget as well as the applicant's NIH Biosketch. Please e-mail your completed application to Andrew MacIntosh.

American Lung Association  

Independent Investigator Awards   

Qualified scientists in all areas of lung health including risk factor research are invited to submit an application for the 2014-2015 grant cycle.

  • Biomedical Research Grant (10-12 grants available): $40,000/yr.
    Provides seed monies for junior investigators researching the mechanisms of lung disease and general lung biology.
  •  Clinical Patient Care Research Grant (1-2 grants available): $40,000/yr.
    Provides seed monies for junior investigators working on traditional clinical studies examining methods of improving patient care and/or treatment for lung disease.
  • Dalsemer Research Grant (1 grant available): $40,000/yr.
    Provide seed monies for junior investigators researching interstitial lung disease.

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)  

Kure It-AACR Grant for Kidney Cancer Research 

This grant will support an innovative translational research project designed to improve the survival and quality of life of patients with kidney cancer and lead to individualized therapeutic options for treatment or the development of promising new cancer therapeutics for kidney cancer patients. Emphasis will be placed on proposed projects which will translate into clinical applications within a few year period.  

AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR active membership by Thursday, November 21, 2013.  

Amount: $250,000 over 2 years 

Deadline: November 19, 2013

 

American Liver Foundation  

Liver Scholar Award 

This award provides young scientists with support for their research to bridge the gap between completion of research training and attainment of status as an independent research scientist. The additional research experience provided by this award is intended to enable them to successfully compete for research awards from national sources, particularly the NIH. The award is intended to develop the potential of outstanding, young scientists and encourage research in liver physiology and disease. Individuals who are already well-established in the field are not eligible for this award.  

Amount: $225,000 over 3 years

Deadline: December 3,2013    

 

The Harry J. Lloyd Charitable Trust

Melanoma Research Grants 

Applications will be accepted for a broad range of melanoma research projects involving basic science, clinical trials, etc. Special consideration will be given in two areas: 1) emerging novel concepts that constitute significant innovation and 2) new investigators in the field of melanoma.      

Amount: Up to $125,000 per year

Deadline: December 10, 2013  

 

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)

Aflac Inc. Career Development Award for Pediatric Cancer Research  

The AACR-Aflac Inc. Career Development Award for Pediatric Cancer Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support junior faculty who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term) to conduct pediatric cancer research and establish successful career paths in this field.  Research projects may be in any discipline of basic, clinical, translational, or epidemiological research with direct applicability and relevance to pediatric cancer. AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR active membership by Friday, December 13, 2013. 

Amount: $100,000 over two years

Deadline: December 11,2013  

 

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation

Young Investigator Awards 

This award is meant for start-up funds for new scientists at the end of their fellowship training or early in their research career. Demonstration of outstanding mentorship and demonstration of a career plan that shows commitment to pediatric cancer investigation are critical components of a successful application.  

Amount:  $50,000/year for 2 years 

Deadline: December 16, 2013

 

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Epidemiology Grants
This award provides funds that will support investigators pursuing epidemiological research aimed at improving our understanding of childhood cancer. This award is designed to support the research that focuses on 1) the epidemiology, early detection or prevention of childhood cancer or 2) comparative effectiveness and outcomes research related to detection, prevention and treatment. Eligible areas of investigation using an epidemiological approach include the following: Epidemiology and etiology of childhood cancer, Early Detection of Childhood Cancer, Prevention of Childhood Cancer, Comparative Effectiveness and Outcomes Research.
Amount: $100,000/year for 2 years
Deadline: December 16, 2013

All applications are due into the Office of Grants and Contracts five business days prior to the sponsor's deadline for DFCI review and approval prior to submission to the sponsor. 


Non-Federal Funding - Fellowships

American Lung Association  

Senior Research Training Fellowship 

The objective of this award is to support the training of MDs and PhDs seeking further academic training as scientific investigators with the goal of pursuing a career in pulmonary medicine and lung biology research.  

Applicants must also have completed their clinical training, have some research experience, and be in their 3rd or 4th year of fellowship training at the time of application.  

Amount: Up to $65,000 over 2 years 

Deadline: November 12, 2013

 

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)

Fight Colorectal Cancer-AACR Fellowship in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Research   

The Fight Colorectal Cancer-AACR Fellowship in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Research, in memory of Lisa Dubow represents a joint effort to encourage and support a postdoctoral or clinical research fellow to conduct translational or clinical research that focuses on novel THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES for late-stage metastatic colorectal cancer. The fellowship will support a project designed to lead to individualized therapeutic options for treatment or the development of promising new cancer therapeutics for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Emphasis will be placed on proposed projects which will translate into clinical applications within a few year period, including those with predictive biomarker studies. AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR associate membership by Wednesday, December 4, 2013.  

Amount: $50,000 for 1 year

Deadline: December 2, 2013

Millennium Fellowship in Lymphoma Research 

The AACR-Millennium Fellowship in Lymphoma Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support a postdoctoral or clinical research fellow to conduct lymphoma-based research and to establish a successful career path in this field. The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, clinical or epidemiological in nature and must have direct applicability and relevance to lymphoma. AACR membership is required. Nonmembers interested in this grant opportunity must submit a satisfactory application for AACR associate membership by Friday, December 13, 2013.   

Amount: $55,000 for 1 year

The AACR-Millennium Fellowship in Prostate Cancer Research represents a joint effort to encourage and support a postdoctoral or clinical research fellow to conduct prostate cancer research and to establish a successful career path in this field. The research proposed for funding may be basic, translational, clinical or epidemiological in nature and must have direct applicability and relevance to prostate cancer.  AACR membership is required.
