Internal Funding
DFCI, DF/HCC, BWH, and Harvard

Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC)
The Bridge Project

The Bridge Project is a collaboration between the Koch Institute at MIT and DF/HCC; designed to bring clinical oncology, bioengineering, and/or advanced cancer science together to solve today's most challenging problems in cancer research and care. The project supports research teams comprised of individuals from both MIT and DF/HCC, who require seed funding to support translational research projects likely to yield results that can be translated into the clinic in the near future. Funding is to be solely used to support cancer-focused collaborations with costs split (nearly equivalently) between institutions. For 2013, the Bridge Project Leadership Committee has decided to include three new cancer areas (Metastatic Prostate Cancer, Metastatic Breast Cancer, Adult Leukemia) to the list of unmet clinical needs, bringing the total to eight most challenging clinical problems eligible for funding.

Amount: $750,000 over 2 years

Deadline: September 5, 2013

ALSF will support projects via this mechanism for a maximum of 12 months. If NIH funding is secured and begins before the end of the 12 month period, ALSF must be notified and will cease its financial support of the project. Projects funded via this mechanism that do not receive funding from the NIH within 12 months are not eligible to reapply for the ALSF Springboard Grant.
