ALSF will support projects via this mechanism for a maximum of 12 months. If NIH funding is secured and begins before the end of the 12 month period, ALSF must be notified and will cease its financial support of the project. Projects funded via this mechanism that do not receive funding from the NIH within 12 months are not eligible to reapply for the ALSF Bridge Grant.

Reliable Cancer Therapies (RCT)
Call for Cancer Projects: Repurposing of DrugsRCT is seeking projects looking to repurpose existing drugs for cancer treatment. The drugs must have been developed and approved for other indication(s). Relevant clinical trial endpoints (cancer survival & tumor response) should be the primary research assessments. RCT also promotes collaborative research projects between researchers at different universities and/or organizations.

Innovation Award
Provides support for the next generation of exceptionally creative thinkers with "high-risk/high-reward" ideas that have the potential to significantly impact our understanding of and/or approaches to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of cancer. The Innovation Award is specifically designed to provide funding to extraordinary early career researchers who have an innovative new idea but lack sufficient preliminary data to obtain traditional funding. It is not designed to fund incremental advances. Research supported by this award must be novel, exceptionally creative and, if successful, have the strong potential for high impact in the cancer field.

Research Career Development AwardProvides support for short-term oncology research training and mentorship. The applicant must be a registered nurse with an interest in oncology and with a completed PhD degree in nursing or a related discipline. Young Investigator GrantBCA invites clinical doctors and research scientists whose primary focus is breast cancer. Applicants must have been appointed to a position equivalent to Assistant Professor no more than three years prior to the start of the grant term. The research project must be directly related to the field of breast cancer. Areas of relevant research may include but are not limited to: diagnosis, etiology, immunology, genetics, therapies, prevention and clinical studies.

Research Grant AwardsThese grants support oncology nursing research. Research projects may include pilot or feasibility studies or the development of a new aspect of a program of research. The principal investigator must be actively involved in some aspect of cancer patient care, education, or research, and be PhD- or DNSc-prepared or a student working toward one of those research degrees. Funding preference is given to projects that involve nurses in the design and conduct of the research activity and that promote theoretically based oncology practice. Membership in ONS is not required for eligibility.
