Mentored Research Scholar Grants in Applied and Clinical Research provide support for mentored research and training to full-time junior faculty, typically within the initial four years of their first independent appointment. The goal is for these beginning investigators to become independent researchers as either clinician scientists or cancer control and prevention researchers.

Melanoma Research Alliance
MRA Team Science Awards
Supports multidisciplinary teams of two or more PIs to support projects with the potential to lead to transforming advances in prevention, early detection, staging and/or treatment of melanoma. All PIs in the team share authority for scientific leadership. The designated Administrative PI is responsible for administrative leadership. New for the 2013 award cycle is the requirement that each team must include at least one Young Investigator as a co-investigator.
Amount: $1 million over 2 to 3 years

Supports fundamental and translational research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. Applicants are strongly encouraged to seek advice from AICR's Scientific Coordinator if there is any probability the project is not covered by this description. Applications will be considered in which studies on patients, volunteers, clinical records or human tissue are used to address a fundamental scientific question.

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Career Development AwardsThe Pancreatic Cancer Action Network-AACR Career Development Awards represent a joint effort to encourage and support junior faculty who are in the first five years of a faculty appointment (at the start of the grant term) to conduct pancreatic cancer research. At the start of the grant term on July 1, 2013, applicants must hold a full-time faculty position, but cannot have been in the position more than five years.

Friends For An Earlier Breast Cancer Test
Medical Research GrantRequesting applications for pilot projects that focus on new methods to improve detection of early breast cancer and are especially interested in the development of new techniques in the areas of biological or immunologic methods of early detection. It is hoped that pilot projects will provide preliminary data that leads to applications for more substantial peer-reviewed funding.

These grants are designed to support the research of investigators who have a specific focus on the epidemiology, early detection, or the prevention of childhood cancer. Eligible areas of investigation include the following: Epidemiology and etiology of childhood cancer; Early Detection of Childhood Cancer; Prevention of Childhood Cancer; and some Preclinical research.
Amount: $100,000/year for up to 2 years
