DF/HCC

Bridge Project

The Koch Institute (KI) - Dana-Farber Cancer Center (DF/HCC) Bridge Project is designed to help bring the expertise of these two centers to bear on complex translational problems in cancer research. A particular emphasis is placed on fostering joint approaches by engineers and cancer scientists, both basic and clinical/translational. Applications should be collaborative research projects that focus on critical problems in 5 cancers (Melanoma, Pancreatic, Glioblastoma, Lung and Ovarian).

Amount: $375,000/year for 2 years

Deadline: LOI: October 15, 2012 - Full Application Due: October 31, 2012

HMS
HMS Foundation Funds
Each year several foundations invite HMS faculty and postdocs to apply for their fellowships and grants, which serve as critical funding at the early stages of a research career. Interested investigators must first apply for the HMS nomination through the HMS Foundation Funds, and a committee will select the final candidates to submit applications to the foundations.
Some of the funding opportunity sponsors have invited DFCI to submit separate from this process.  In such a case that DFCI has been invited to submit, you must go through DFCI and cannot submit through the HMS Foundation Funds process for that particular sponsor. Your first step should be to review the DFCI Limited Application web page to be sure you are submitting through the proper mechanism. If you are still unsure please email Tami Simmons. Please direct all Harvard Foundation Funds inquiries to the Office of the HMS Dean for Academic and Clinical Affairs, 617-432-7463, hmsaca@hms.harvard.edu.
Amount: Varies By Sponsor
Deadline: October 16, 2012

DF/HCC
Kidney Cancer Specialized Program on Research Excellence (SPORE)
The purpose of this program is to promote translational research in kidney cancer. Applications will be accepted from investigators leading existing projects and pilot projects as well as currently non-SPORE funded investigators. All basic research supported by the SPORE must have a plan for translation into application or studies in humans within the 5 years of the grant proposal. In order to facilitate this translation, projects should be co-led by a basic and a clinically oriented scientist.
Amount: Up to $150,000/year for 2 to 5 years
