Fall Allergies: Common Triggers and How to Avoid Them

Thanks to warmer temperatures this year we are in the midst of what could be a stronger than usual fall allergy season. The warmer weather can cause certain plants to produce more pollen and in turn create an allergy season that could run until late November.

Different than spring's allergy season which this year provided extra high pollen counts, the fall offers it's own troublesome allergens to contend with. Follow the link below for some common causes of fall allergies plus how to avoid them.

New Procedure Provides Relief for Common Back Pain
Lumbar stenosis is a common degenerative condition in the lower back that affects over 3 million Americans every year. It can cause a number of different symptoms, including difficulty walking, lower back pain, or pain, weakness, numbness or tingling in the buttocks and legs. A new minimally invasive surgery is now available at Memorial to alleviate these symptoms.

Primary Care Physicians Accepting New Patients
Everyone needs a primary care physician - to provide overall healthcare, to ensure that you receive the best measures for disease prevention, to treat you when you're sick and refer you for specialized care if necessary

The primary care physicians listed are members of Memorial Hospital's medical staff who are currently accepting new patients. If you don't have a primary care doctor, take this opportunity to make an appointment with one of our experienced physicians. If you already have one, share this list with a friend. There is no greater gift than good health.

Ask the Expert:

I have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. My knee seems to give out or

give way. What should I do?

The knee is a joint prone to wear and tear from years of bearing the weight of our bodies. It is essentially one bone (femur) sitting on two bones (fibula and tibia).

Joseph Rabatin, MD (View Bio)

If you have morning problems, you may have arthritis. The good news is that treatment is simple: exercise, anti-inflammatory medications and weight loss. The bad news is that it takes years to develop arthritis and there is no cure. Doctors can help with advanced treatments like injections and surgery.
