REGISTRATION ENDING SOON FOR VAIL REC DISTRICT'S FALL
YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAM
(Vail, Colo.) - Registration is underway for Vail Recreation District fall activities, beginning with the VRD's fall youth soccer program. Registrations are being accepted until this Friday, Aug. 12. Age groups range from four to nine, pre-K through fourth grade, and teams are coordinated geographically based on residence and where players attend school. The youth soccer program fills quickly with age groups as follows (practice schedules are subject to change):
  • Micro Soccer, for Pre-K and Kindergarten (Pre-K must be four years old by 9/13/16), will practice from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 in EagleVail. There is no session on Sept. 20. Cost is $60 and includes a T-shirt, with space limited to 60 children.
  • U8 Soccer, for kids entering first and second grades, will practice Tuesdays and Thursdays on various fields between Vail and Avon with Saturday games from Sept. 6 to Oct. 22. Practice times to be determined. Cost is $65 and includes a uniform.
  • U10 Soccer, for kids entering third and fourth grades, will practice Mondays and Wednesdays, with Saturday games from Sept. 7 to Oct. 22 on various fields between Vail and Avon. Practice times to be determined. Cost is $70 and includes a uniform.
This is the tenth season for the VRD's smaller-sided youth soccer league, which allows Micro and U8 teams to play four versus four with no goal keepers, while U10 teams will play six versus six with goal keepers. The smaller team play allows participants to play more and gain better knowledge and skills of the sport.

Additionally, the VRD is seeking volunteer coaches and referees with fees waived for children whose parents volunteer.
