RACE DETAILS

The Hammer in the Hay race will continue the Athletic Club at the Westin Mountain Bike Race Series this Wednesday. Racers will enjoy a variety of double and single track with distances ranging from 3.4 miles for younger riders and beginners to 17.8 miles for more experienced riders.

THE GOODS

After-party
4 Eagle Ranch Grill will host an after-party at 4 Eagle Ranch with free cans of beer provided by New Belgium Brewing Company, as well as drink specials and samples from 808 Distillery for those 21 and older. Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers in each category after the race, with series prizes awarded to the top finishers in each category at the end of the final race of the season. Raffle prize drawings will also be held during each after-party, featuring products from local and national sponsors.

MEET YOUR MEDICAL SUPPORT
The Steadman Clinic/Steadman Philippon Research Institute provides sports medicine coverage for the VRD mountain bike and trail running series. Athletic trainers are at each race and provide injury prevention, first aid, injury evaluation and referrals in case you get hurt. They are located at the start/finish line in The Steadman Clinic tent. Please feel free to use these services. Your athletic trainer for this week's race is:
Nick DePhillipo
   

Nick grew up in Margate, New Jersey. He studied at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2013. Upon graduation, Nick became a graduate assistant at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa where he worked at a high school as the head athletic trainer and strength and conditioning specialist. Nick earned his Master of Science degree in Advanced Athletic Training in 2015. His master's thesis involved designing a novel functional testing assessment to screen for risk of acute lower extremity injuries in adolescent athletes. He is an avid surfer and ice hockey player and enjoys visiting back home when he can, spending time with family and friends. Nick is very excited for this opportunity in Colorado and is looking forward to working with everyone at The Steadman Clinic.

Allyson Riley

Allyson is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While at the University of North Carolina, Allyson had the opportunity to work for collegiate teams such as football, men's lacrosse, women's soccer, and men's tennis in addition to two local high schools. Allyson worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia, receiving a Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine. She also completed research on self-myofascial release combined with segmental vibration therapy. Allyson is excited to explore the Rocky Mountains and work towards becoming a physician extender at the Steadman Clinic.
