Good morning snowshoe and yaktrax racers!

Just a quick reminder that bib pick-up is available today from 4-6 p.m. at the Icebreaker store in Solaris. All participants who stop by today will receive a free Icebreaker gift and be entered to win an icebreaker outfit.

The weather outlook for Saturday looks typical for spring in the high country with a chance of rain and snow in the morning and a chance of snow in the afternoon. Please be prepared with proper clothing, we will have bags available to store gear at the start and we will transport that gear to the finish area for pick up after the race has finished.

Parking is available at the Vail Parking Garage and is free after 3 p.m. and public transportation or a short walk is possible to the start line at the Vail Athletic Field. The kids fun run will begin at 4 p.m., followed shortly by a mass start for all yaktrax and snowshoe racers.

The course travels through the Vail Nordic Center and utilizes the Vail Trail. Directional arrows mark the 5K and 10K course. There will be an aid station at the 5K and 10K course split, where 5K runners will head west to the finish at the Vail Nature Center while 10K runners continue east and loop around the Nordic Center then head west to the finish at the Vail Nature Center.

Water and Gatorade will be available at the start area, the finish area and at the aid station on course. The race will finish at the Vail Nature Center with a bonfire awards ceremony complete with s'mores and hot chocolate. First, second and third places will receive awards in each the 5K and 10K snowshoe and yaktrax category for both men and women. Be sure to wear your favorite green outfit as we will award the best costume in the field!

We look forward to seeing each of you tomorrow for the Fifth Annual Krueger Family Shamrock Shuffle! For questions or concerns, contact Kip Tingle, sports@vailrec.com, or call 970.479.2280.
