LOCAL GYMNAST TAKES FIRST PLACE AT DENVER GYMNASTICS MEET
(Vail, Colo.) -The 2016 competitive season for the Vail Gymnastics Team is off to a great start, with impressive results coming in so far. This past weekend, the team competed in the Denver Winterfest Classic at the University of Denver, which hosted a total of 927 gymnasts - one of the largest meets in Denver with very strong competition.

The level seven team did particularly well, taking third place overall and having several individuals placing high in the competition. Davis Page dominated the competition with first place overall, including a first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.525 (out of 10) as well as a first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.350. Following Page was Addison Nothnagel, who finished second overall with three second-place finishes on vault (9.050), bars (9.300) and floor (9.100).

In addition to a fantastic weekend, all team gymnasts have now qualified for the Colorado State Championship meet, with the level eight meet taking place from March 18-20 and the level seven meet on April 1-3. Before the Colorado State Championship meets, the girls will compete in San Diego this weekend at the SCEGA California Classic, which will host more than 3,000 competitors, including nationally-ranked gymnasts.

The Vail Gymnastics Team trains locally at the Vail Gymnastics Center, a state-of-the-art gymnastics facility, under the direction of coaches Julie Cotter, MaryAnn Oehlerking and Hannah King. With 25 athletes in the competitive program, representing levels three through nine, and over 100 athletes participating in recreation programs, the Vail Gymnastics Center has programs for all ages and ability levels. For more information on the Vail Gymnastics Center and programming, visit vailrec.com or call 970-479-2287.
