REGISTRATION UNDERWAY FOR WINTER YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAMS 
(Vail, Colo.) -The Vail Recreation District will offer several youth sports programs after school beginning in January. All programs will take place at Homestake Peak Elementary School and registration is underway online. Information is as follows:  

Futsal 
Kids still itching to play soccer even after it's a little too cold outside? Sign them up for our Futsal (Indoor Soccer) Program. This program takes place on Tuesdays (first and second grades), Wednesdays (third through fifth grade) or Thursday (sixth grade) from January 5 through February 11. Futsal is a Brazilian indoor soccer game that is used as a teaching tool. It develops players technical and tactical ability by forcing them to maneuver and make decisions in a confined space. Cost is $75 per participant and registration is due by Dec. 24, 2015. Volunteer coaches are needed and coaches' kids play for free. For more information, click here.

Youth Volleyball 
This active after-school sports opportunity takes place on Mondays, Jan. 4 through Feb. 8. Girls and boys in grades third through sixth will meet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The program provides professional coaching by the Vail Volleyball Club. Participants will work on fundamentals of the sport with a lower net and smaller court and focus on footwork and agility and will also receive instruction designed to maximize contact and repetitions in a training environment for enthusiastic volleyball players. High Country Hoops 
The basketball after-school program begins later in the year from March 1 through April 7. Girls and boys in grades first through fifth will meet on Tuesdays (first and second grades) or Thursdays (third through fifth grade) from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Each Session will consist of 45 minutes of skill building, including dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork and defense followed by 45 minutes of game play. Cost is $75 per participant and registration is due by January 30. Volunteer coaches are needed and coaches' kids play for free. For more information, click here.
