LA SPORTIVA EVERGOLD TRAIL RUNNING RACE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 IN VAIL, COLO.
The Skinny on the EverGold
The Vail Recreation District's 2015 La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series wraps up the season Sunday with EverGold 5k and 10k trail running race. This is the seventh race in the seven race series, which is presented by Anthem BlueCross BlueShield and
Haute Route.
 
The seventh and final race in the Vail Recreation District's (VRD) La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series, the EverGold 10k and 5k presented by Haute Route Gear & Apparel, will begin and end at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village. The 10k race kicks off at 10 a.m., while 5k runners begin at 10:25 a.m. 10k Runners will make their way to Golden Peak, up the popular Berry Picker trail to Lion Down and Hank's Hideaway, before returning back to Mountain Plaza. Runners experience an average grade of 10 percent and gain nearly 1,700 feet in elevation throughout the race.

5k runners will follow the same route as the 10k runners, but head down the Lion Down from Berry Picker and back to the the Village  

Individual race costs are $32 for preregistration or $42 on race day. Registration is available by clicking here or by calling 970-479-2280. Online registration ends at 5 p.m. on Friday. Day of registration and bib pickup will occur at the race start area from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Pre-race bib pickup will also be available from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Haute Route in Avon.

Racers should park in the Vail Village parking structure where parking is free.

Prizes
Prizes will be presented to the top three overall finishers and the top three finishers of each age group in the 11k, both male and female, plus the top finishers in the 5k. Awards also will be given to the top series runners who completed five or more of the seven races.

After Party  
Following the race, an after party will take place at 11 a.m. at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village featuring brunch provided by Vail for all runners.
 
Cool Tech T's
Runners will receive Green Layer Tech T's following the race, featuring a unique insignia designed by Kind Design.
 
Raffle
Raffle prize drawings also will be held at each race awards ceremony featuring products from area merchants and national companies.

Meet Your EverGold Medical Support Crew
The Steadman Clinic and Vail Valley Medical Center provide sports medicine coverage for the VRD mountain bike and trail running series. Athletic trainers are at each race and provide injury prevention, first aid, injury evaluation, and referrals in case you get hurt. Hillery Magness
A southern California native, Hillery completed her bachelor's of science degree in Kinesiology at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA. It didn't take long for Hillery to catch the athletic training bug during her undergraduate education, and she soon accepted a position as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Oregon. She earned her MS degree in Exercise and Movement Science while helping care for the Oregon women's soccer and football teams and researching the standardization of concussion management protocols amongst division 1 athletic programs. Hillery spent 3 years as a staff athletic trainer and undergraduate athletic training education program instructor at Sacramento State University before moving home to be the athletic trainer for the women's soccer and women's water polo teams at the University of Southern California. After 8 years with USC, Hillery is excited to transition to the orthopedic clinic setting. She is ready to take on the educational and personal challenges that she is certain to be presented with over the next year.
