Vail Golf Club Offers Fall Foliage Rates Beginning Sept. 8

Fall Golf 08 Fall officially arrives Sept. 23 and with the change of seasons, comes a beautiful change in color all over Vail. Leaves are already beginning to usher in the season and cooler temps during the day make fall an ideal time to enjoy a round of golf in Vail. Beginning Sept. 8, the Vail Golf Club will offer its annual Fall Foliage rates featuring 18 holes for $69 and nine holes for $47, including cart*. Those wishing to walk the course will enjoy 18 holes for $50 and nine holes for $35. 

Additionally, don't miss the annual Pro Shop sale, with discounts available on apparel, golf clubs, bags, shoes and more. The sale lasts through Sept. 7

Vail Golf and Nordic Clubhouse Renovation Update
 
Vail Golf Clubhouse and Nordic Center Construction Kick-off Meeting | Today, September 2
After months of preparation, the Vail Golf & Nordic Clubhouse renovation will begin next week. Please join us for an information update at 1 p.m. today in the Town of Vail Public Works Administration Building, 1309 Elkhorn Dr. This meeting will be used to review the project schedule and operational adjustments for Golf and Nordic activities. Following the Sept. 2 kick-off, regular neighborhood update meetings will be taking place each Wednesday at 1 p.m. through Oct. 14 at the same location. These meetings will be used to discuss staging, traffic coordination and other neighborhood topics associated with the project. The discussions will be facilitated by Leonard Sandoval, the town's construction area coordinator. Fall/Winter Project Schedule:
  • Wednesday, Sept. 2 - Construction kick-off meeting for neighbors and others impacted by the project. This meeting will be held weekly at 1 p.m. in the Town of Vail Public Works Administration Building, 1309 Elkhorn Dr., through Oct. 14 and will be facilitated by Leonard Sandoval, Town of Vail Construction Coordinator. Discussions will include noise regulations, traffic, deliveries, etc.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 8 - Renovation begins. Golf play will continue with 18 holes of golf available via walking, push carts and golf bikes. New: A limited number of 40 gas-powered carts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The Grill on the Gore will close; check-in and food and beverage service will be available through the starter building.
  • Wednesdays, Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30 - Weekly construction update meeting, 1 p.m. in the Town of Vail Public Works Administration Building, 1309 Elkhorn Dr. Weekly meetings continue through Oct. 14.
  • Week of Sept. 28 - Driving range will close for the season. Installation of temporary clubhouse facilities will begin, which includes site work preparations, utility work and installation of temporary structure.
  • Wednesdays, Oct. 7, 14 - Weekly construction update meeting, 1 p.m. in the Town of Vail Public Works Administration Building, 1309 Elkhorn Dr. Last meeting of the season is Oct. 14.
  • Sunday, Oct. 25 - Last day of golf operations.
  • Sunday, Nov. 1 - Nordic operations begin with season pass and retail sales in temporary facilities.

Vail Golf Clubhouse Renovation Frequently Asked Questions

Will the golf course be open after Sept. 7?
  • Yes. All 18 holes will be open through Oct. 25. Operations will be headquartered at the starter building.
  • The driving range will also be open through September. It will close Oct. 1 for the 2015 season.
  • The practice area adjacent to the driving range will close Sept. 21 for sewer work.
  • Other practice areas will be open as long as feasible.
  • Limited pro shop and food and beverage operations will be available in the starter building. The beverage cart will not operate after Sept. 8.
Will there be any golf carts available to rent?
  • Yes. We will have 40 gas carts available in September. Our normal fleet is 70.
  • Reservations will be required for use of gas carts.
  • Golf bikes and push carts will also be available.
  • Walkers are always welcome.
When will I need to remove my stored clubs and push carts from storage at clubhouse?
  • All clubs will need to be removed this week. The last day for removal is Saturday, Sept. 5.
When do I need to use my store credit in the golf shop?
  • All store credit will need to be used by Saturday, Sept. 5.
  • Store credit will not carry over to the 2016 season.
  • Store credit may not be used for special orders.
Will there be any refunds for pass or punch cards for the 2015 season?
  • We will not be offering refunds.
  • 18 holes of play will be available until the course closes on Oct. 25.
When is the pro shop going to have a sale?
  • The annual pro shop sale is underway until Sunday, Sept. 7. All golf shop items will then be stored. 
How will you operate summer of 2016?
  • The golf course is scheduled to open in mid-May, weather and course conditions permitting. 
  • Golf operations will be located in a temporary structure, adjacent to the driving range.
  • 18 holes will be available for play as soon as course conditions allow.
  • A smaller driving range area will be available during the construction.
Will parking be available?
  • Parking will be available. The VRD will actively manage the parking at the course/Nordic Center to coincide with construction needs. This will be a fluid management plan and the VRD is prepared to implement a valet parking program should construction warrant an issue at no cost to golfers/Nordic patrons.
  • There will be no public skier parking at the Nordic center this winter. Parking will be dedicated to Nordic uses. 
  • There may be possible traffic delays at the golf course during the renovation.
Will the Vail Nordic Center operate this winter?
  • Nordic operations will be available in temporary structures beginning Nov. 1. This will include a pro shop and pass sales. The Nordic workshop will be in the starter building for tuning and waxing skis.

Join the Vail Town Council and Vail Recreation District Board of Directors as we celebrate the start of the Clubhouse renovation. When completed in fall 2016, the facility will include upgrades and enhancements that will be enjoyed by our community members and guests.

Fall Aeration Schedule
  • Sept. 28-Oct. 2: Aerate fairways, continue into week of Oct. 5 as necessary.
  • Oct. 5-6: Aerate, deep-tine, topdress greens. Requires closure of course Monday, Oct. 5 and only nine holes will be available on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
  • Oct. 5-9: Slit-seed fairways, continue into week of Oct. 12 as necessary.
  • Oct. 7-9: Aerate and topdress tees, continue into week of Oct. 12 as necessary.
  • Oct. 12-16: Blow out irrigation system over one to three day period.

Grill on the Gore Après Special  

The Grill on the Gore is open daily through Sunday, Sept. 7 featuring some of the most spectacular views of the Gore Range from any Vail Restaurant. Open daily serving its full menu from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grill-goers will enjoy tasty menu items including burgers, sandwiches, fresh fish, deserts and more.
