From our Pastors...
Blessedly Lost

He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far does He remove our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:10-12

I have a confession to make. I...like...my...calendar. Long ago I switched from a "paper calendar" to a "digital calendar" and I love it! Yes, I use my smartphone, and it lets me know in advance when and where my next appointment is. All you have to do is enter the information and it organizes your life. It brings me a sense of peace to look at this beautiful masterpiece of color-coded meetings and events. I believe the familiar chime when I need to leave for my next appointment or when the event is about to start helps bring a sense of direction in my life. I made sure all of my electronics are synced perfectly, and it brings a smile to my face.

Now some of you might just be thinking that I'm a little crazy because I rely on my calendar so much and I like to be THAT organized. You are probably right. But my motivation is, if I don't enter the appointment I'll probably forget it!

Last year, my screen on my phone got cracked. No biggie, I'll go down to the store and get a new phone. As the sale associate and I chatted, we began to sync my phones. Once the new phone was in my hands, I erased and reset my old phone. I didn't think twice about it, until...my next appointment came and went without a notification.

I received a call about 10 minutes into my supposed meeting asking, "Where are you?"

"I am so sorry! I just got a new phone, and the alerts must not have transferred over. I'll be right there." I ended the call and opened my calendar app...empty, gone, NOTHING. My heart dropped. Their was no record of my days past, present, or future.

It took me two horrific weeks to get my calendar up and running. While I worked tirelessly to fix my calendar, replacing everything that was lost, I was reminded of a pretty amazing promise...

Because of the cross, the God of the universe sees my sins like that empty calendar, gone. Our sin is not taken away because of a computer error; our sin was written on the cross by the blood of Christ and was purposely paid for. Our debt was deleted, wiping away all of our unrighteousness.

Those who trust in the Lord literally have their lives wiped clean from all of their sins. Why wouldn't we want to trust a Father who looks at us like He looks at His son, wiped clean and full of righteousness.
