You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. ~ Matthew 5:14-16

Growing up I used to play a game with a mirror, well, actually a few mirrors. I would turn off the hallway and bedroom lights and from the reflection of the downstairs light I would attempt to bounce the light from mirror to mirror up the stairs, through the hallway, and into my room. On a really dark night, it was amazing how much a little light that has bounced off a few mirrors can light up a room.

We use light all the time to point things out:
*    A flashlight to see where we are going
*    A laser pointer to direct your attention to a certain spot on the board
*    A lighthouse to warn sailors
*    Christians to glorify God...

Wait, what?! We are light? Absolutely!! Read Matthew 5 again, Jesus says we are light! We can't make our own light, but we can certainly reflect HIS light.

Trail Christian Fellowship's mission statement is, "Helping People Think Like Jesus." If we don't shine, how can we help? I have often heard, "My Faith is a personal matter, I don't want to offend anyone, so I keep it to myself." Why wouldn't we want to shine and share this amazing gift? That is like a lighthouse on a foggy night saying it doesn't want to shine because it might keep someone awake trying to warn the sailors.

Jesus said to follow His example and He is the light of the world. How we influence people and show our light is a result of who lives in us. God puts us in the spot we need to be so we can shine for him. Where has He placed you this week?
