As permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia decided over the weekend to block any possible military action against North Korea for recent nuclear tests. Already under heavy sanctions, China supports North Korea, allowing the rogue regime to persist.

Liquor Latest Casualty in Corruption Fight?

Expensive drinks at Communist Party social functions have come under fire from officials eager to convey a more modest image. As a result, demand has fallen to such an extent that prices of some fine liquors have plummeted by 25%.

Foxconn Freezes Hiring

    Apple's largest manufacturing partner has enacted a freeze at plants across China. Apple's stock has fallen with speculation that its command over the market may be falling. But a company statement said the freeze was not related to any slowdown in consumer demand.

"Cancer Villages" Officially Acknowledged

    Thick hazes of pollution are difficult to deny, unlike unseen pollutants. Last week's report by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which for the first time acknowledged the existence of "cancer villages," therefore turned heads. As many as 400 towns with lethal levels of toxicity are known to exist in China.
