Is Tibet Really Open?
The facts...

There have been suggestions in the press recently that Tibet is once more accessible. The facts are; Rongbuk and the Kharta Valley have been re-opened to foreign travellers, which mean we can run our Everest from Tibet discovery tour, our Kangshung Face trek and our Lhasa to Kathmandu bike journey. But, the Chinese are still insisting that groups are made up of people with the same nationality! This means, of course, if our trips are a mixture of Brits, Europeans and USA clients, we cannot get a group permit. Don't let this deter you though, as we are confident that the Chinese will lift this restriction soon. Prospective clients whose nationality differs from that of the main group will be put on a waiting list - until this rule changes. Note our Kailas trek in September only has 4 places left - all group members are Brits, so if you are British you can book now.

Mont Blanc for Mortals

Can a hillwalker climb Mont Blanc?

Reaching a height of 4810 metres, Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and is certainly no pushover. However, with the right guides and training programme, it is possible for a normal British hillwalker to stand on the roof of Western Europe. Dan Aspel gives a great insight into what it is really like to climb Mont Blanc from a client's perspective in the May and June issues of Trail Magazine.  If you are considering a climbing holiday in the Alps, read this article. Our 8-day guided Mont Blanc Ascent holiday, which we run most weekends from June through to September, offers excellent value as it includes all meal except lunches.

My Best Holiday Ever!
Trekking holidays in Nepal

Brilliant feedback from Nepal

The pre-monsoon season in Nepal is coming to an end and feedback from KE clients has been more-than-complimentary about a succession of our classic holidays, including the Everest Basecamp trek, Everest the Hard Way and the Annapurna Sanctuary Lodge Trek. We were also delighted to hear from KE stalwart, Ade Summers, leader of a group of 9 clients who topped out on Mera Peak on 13th April.  Several members of Ade's group have contacted us to share their stories and to let us know what a fantastic experience they had. Nepal is already looking really busy for the Autumn and we are looking forward to more great feedback!

Beyond the Rose-Red City

New unique itinerary camps inside Petra

From November this year, our popular Wadi Rum and Petra trekking holiday will include a new and exciting perspective on the 'Rose-Red City' of Petra and its surroundings. After our initial tour of the site, we will not retrace our steps with other tourists back to Wadi Musa but will spend a night at a camp on a plateau near the Snake Monument. On the following day we make the return hike via the summit of Jebel Haroun (1270m). Also known as Mount Aaron, this is Petra's holiest peak and the burial place of Moses's brother. From the small mosque and shrine at the summit there are legendary views which extend in all directions across this fabled landscape. Experience the best of Jordan with KE!
