Sterling plunges but our holidays get better in value

Sterling has dropped more than 7% against the Euro in the last few months, but what has this meant for your KE holiday? As virtually all our holidays include most meals it means they are now even better value. Unlike many of our competitors we do not ask for an extra cash kitty on arrival, we try as much as possible to be fully inclusive. So whether you are in search of Albania's Accursed Mountains or want to enjoy the sun on our new Madeira Walking Week, all meals are included. Better still we guarantee not to surcharge any holiday departing this year. You can book with confidence.

Karakoram - is it safe?
Trekking in Pakistan

Our playground for 29 years

Back in 1984 KE Adventure Travel was called the Karakoram Experience and its country of choice was Pakistan. It's where we 'cut our teeth' & launched ourselves into the world of adventure travel. After 29 years we still work with the same locals on the ground, there are few operators that have our knowledge of the region. Despite the bad press of late, the northern areas of Hunza & Baltistan, home to some of the most spectacular trekking in the world, remain as secure as they have been since the early 1990's heyday when up to 4000 westerners would flock to the region. With guaranteed departures for The Great Karakoram Traverse in June, K2 and Concordia in August & our Gondoro La trek - from K2 to Hushe completely booked, it's not just us that know it's safe.

Iceland now easier

Adventure holidays in Iceland

Cheap & Easy Flights

Iceland is getting hotter by the minute and it's not just because of the volcanoes & global warming. With so many airlines now flying to this volcanic island it's the place to be and it's now easier and cheaper to get there. On top of Icelandair, there are now regular flights with Easyjet and WOW (Iceland Express) who have opened up this magical adventure travel destination. With fares from London and Manchester starting as low as 111 return, this is a great time to go to see this mystical island. With 10 different holidays offering everything from biking under the midnight sun, walking on glaciers, visiting Viking ruins with the kids, cross country skiing in a winter wonderland, climbing volcanoes and capturing all the magic on a photo safari, this truly is the land of extremes.

What do Porters Want?
Nepal Spring Trekking Season
The trekking season has started in Nepal

During 2012, Porters' Progress UK, assisted by KE leader Jo Chaffer, produced a questionnaire that was handed out to porters in Nepal's Khumbu and Annapurna areas. 165 porters responded and their views have helped PPUK target areas where the porters need help. One area that stood out from this survey was the porters request for training. They would like basic language training; some instruction on how they can better serve trekkers; and they would like to know more about altitude. These are all topics we cover in our regular local staff training sessions but for more information check out this link PPUK. KE fully endorses the work of the PPUK, as we start another Nepal pre-monsoon trekking season. We have the full range of Himalaya holiday options, from lodge treks to Everest Basecamp and Annapurna Sanctuary to full-on camping treks like Everest the Hard Way and Hidden Valleys of Naar & Phu. Whilst climbers can go for classics such as Mera Peak.

Juniper Trust Update
Cotswold Outdoors and the Juniper Trust

Cotswold Donation Grows

Every time a KE client spends money in a Cotswold Outdoor store using their special 15% off discount letter, Cotswold donates a further 5% to the Juniper Trust Charity. Thanks to your spending Cotswold has just handed over another big juicy cheque of nearly 7000 to go towards our community funded projects. KE Adventure Travel has worked with the Juniper Trust since 1997. This powerful combination of money (via you & Cotswold), contacts all over the World (via KE) and a unified drive to give something back, means our list of achievements just keeps growing. The latest donation will go towards building the Asumbar Village School in Pakistan, supporting 2 teachers at Khande School near Hushe, as well as the excellent ABVK Physio unit and  Chobar School in Nepal.

NEW KE Adventure approved Holiday Insurance
Helicopter Rescue - Adventure Travel Insurance
Travel with peace of mind

Probably the most important extra for any holiday is valid travel insurance and we realise that with some providers there are always grey areas. So at KE we are proud to announce that we have just joined forces with Campbell Irvine, experts at providing insurance for adventure travel, and have created a policy that covers all the extra activities needed to enjoy a KE holiday to the full. We can not stress how important it is to have insurance but if you have any doubts talk to Vanessa Douglas our Sales Manager. She recently joined a KE trek in Nepal with her husband and despite all their past experience, he suffered badly from altitude sickness and needed a helicopter rescue from beneath Dhaulagiri. Without insurance it would have cost over 7000! We also asked Campbell Irvine for a recent story from a traveller which you can read here. The moral of the story is take out valid insurance and enjoy your next adventure.
