Check out our experts choice...
With record bookings it's shaping up to be another fantastic year in the world of KE Adventure Travel and to ensure you do not miss anything we have picked out our top 6 red hot destinations that you should look out for: BURMA - sometimes a clue to the future is hidden in the past. Burma was hot in 2012 and looks to be even hotter in 2013. BRAZIL - the most searched for travel destination for Britons on Google in 2012 was Rio de Janerio with Brazil in 3rd place. NEW ZEALAND - as with the "Lord of the Rings", the launch of 'The Hobbit' is tipped to put the spotlight back on this inspiring country. CORSICA - The crowds will be hell for the start of the Tour du France but this small mountainous island has plenty of space. SOUTH AFRICA - enthused by David Attenborough's new TV series, The Kruger National Park is the place for the big 5. CAMBODIA - from undiscovered beaches in the south to the ancient temples of Angkor Wat this country is very special. |

60 years on and 6149 ascents later!
Nepal has long been a popular destination for its culture, landscape and people but Everest has always been its jewel in the crown. Did you know that there have been 6149 ascents of Everest between 1953 and spring 2012! We wonder how many more have trekked to Everest Base Camp? 2013 is going to be an extra special year because it marks the 60th Anniversary of the first summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. With lots of special departures and planned celebrations, Everest Base Camp will be a very popular place but if you're only going to do it once in your life, to celebrate with hundreds of others will make it all the more special. >> View Base Camp Anniversary departures

Bring me Sunshine

Escape the wettest year on record
The Met Office has announced that 2012 was the second wettest in Briton since records began in 1910; 2000 being the wettest by just over 6mm! So we thought we would tempt you with some of the driest places on the planet. Our Morocco, Edge of the Sahara Trek is a good place to start but the dunes of Sossusvlei in Namibia are even drier. You can take a Cycling Safari here or if you want to discover it at a gentler pace we have a new Highlights Tour. Over in the Middle East water is a precious commodity and finding it walking through the wadis of the Al Hajar Mountains in Oman is like discovering gold dust. We welcome any other ideas on staying dry in 2013! >> View all Desert holidays

The Best Ever Northern Lights
|
2013 promises brighter and lighter
The Northern Lights are on an eleven year cycle known as the solar cycle, this makes predicating their appearance and brightness possible. The solar cycle is in a peak throughout 2012 and 2013. So your chances of seeing a brighter Aurora are increased significantly. With the darkest months of January to March being the best times to go, many of our departures to the North are timed with this in mind. Finland, Iceland and Sweden are all on our list with dog sledding, cross country skiing, snow mobiles, snowshoeing, ice fishing and cosy log fire cabins thrown in to offer you the opportunity of an enlightening winter adventure holiday to remember. >> View all Northern Lights holidays

Kathmandu goes Green
|
Cycling to work and power cuts
Perhaps following the lead of the cycle loving King of Bhutan, who has created a traffic free day once a month in Thimpu; we now hear that in Kathmandu, the Chief of Army Staff has declared that the army will use 'greener' modes of transport every Friday, and he himself, with his bodyguards, cycles to work every Friday. Quite an impressive step from a man of such a high position and we also hear that he is getting support from many locals who propose to commute with him on the 3rd Friday of this month. We asked our ground contact if this is the start of Kathmandu going green and he replied, "With up to 18 hours of powercuts per day... we must be the 'greenest' city on the planet, we just do not need ENERGY! We might also be the most 'romantic' - considering the amount of candles we use." Post your thoughts on Kathmandu going green on our facebook page. >> View all Nepal Holidays
