Lonely Planet's Best of 2013

KE go there - tick, tick, tick...
Every year Lonely Planet brings out a new book listing what they think is the best trends, destinations, journeys and experience for the upcoming year. As usual their listing shows KE have got our fingers on the pulse, as our holiday destinations feature highly in their recommendations. Leading their Top 10 Countries is Sri Lanka, or as they have listed it, 'cut-priced paradise'. We agree and can take you there on our new Discovery Holiday; Sri Lanka Highlights Tour or for walkers there's our new Sri Lanka Tracks & Trails holiday. Corsica is number one in their top ten regions and has long been one of our favourites with the ultra challenging GR20 trek or the much easier Mountains to Sea walk. San Francisco is their top city and the starting point of our popular USA family adventure, Cowboys & Indians.

Kicks off in Corsica
The route for the Tour de France for 2013 has been announced. Lance Armstrong will certainly not be there, but you could! The 100th edition begins on Corsica on 29th June. It's going to be mountainous and will suit the climbers, so word has it Froome and Contador will be hot favourites. If you fancy a piece of the action, we have a cheeky trip in Corsica that will get you up-close and personal with the first stages. Our Mountains to the Sea 8 day trek departs on the 16th June and ends on the 23rd giving you plenty of time to select poll position on 29th June. If you prefer to be cycling though, our new Tour of Gran Canaria is the training ground of the professionals and our Pyrenees Raid covers lots of the famous cols. >> View all Cycling holidays

Grand Traverse of the Jura
|
A Ski Touring holiday like no other
Late January and early February usually offer the best conditions for one of the best cross country ski challenges in the Alps, the Grand Traverse of the Jura, a ski-touring holiday like no other. Travelling 175km from Geneva, it follows the route of France's longest cross-country ski race, the World famous Transjurassiene. It passes over the highest summits of the French Jura and traverses through meadowland, forests, isolated farms and small historic towns and castles. Covering approximately 20-30 km each day with nothing but a day pack and ending each day in rustic inns and hotels this is a unique ski-touring holiday. New to KE for 2013 and with departures suitable for those with previous experience this is an amazing opportunity to ski tour through this spectacular area. >> View the Grand Traverse of the Jura >> View all Winter holidays
