Greetings!

autumn colors Wow!  How did it get to be November already?  I guess the falling leaves and falling temperatures should have given me a hint.
 
This month, we are featuring a recent blog post regarding the most effective methods of connecting with people you do not know, or know well, on LinkedIn. Spoiler alert: the ready-made "invitation" just does not make it!  Also, we are offering you some good reading on sales strategy and tactics in an e-book put together by the sales gurus at Sales SheBang®.  So, enough chit-chat - dive in!

I am fortunate to belong to a group of visionary women in sales called Sales SheBang®.  As part of our last conference, we put together an e-book of strategic and tactical articles on a variety of 
sales-related subjects, called Sell Better & Sell More. You can tap into the group's collective wisdom by  downloading the e-book here.

The basic gist of the book is that 23 of us were asked for practical ideas on how to grow sales.  An expansive question, to be sure, but one guaranteed to elicit a wide range of interesting responses.

 

Whether you are self-employed, or work for a large or small company, there is a part of all of our jobs that is sales-related.  This book will give you food for thought about how you can immediately ramp up your sales.

Does that statement sound familiar?  I bet that you receive a number of these requests every month.   I got a handful of these this week - all using the exact same words and nothing more. The majority of requests were from people I did not know.  It's great that they wanted to connect with me, but there is one major challenge with it.  I don't know why.  I can look at their profile and decide if I want to be connected to that person or not - but I still don't have any context for their request.

 

Let's look at it another way.  Would you leave a voice mail message that simply stated "I'd like to add you to my professional network" and then just hang up?   Probably not!   So why do that using LinkedIn?

 

There is lots to do and think about as you close 2013 and get ready for 2014.  Unfortunately, many of us don't have the luxury of finishing one before starting the other!  I get that, and I'd love to help you brainstorm some ideas to make sure next year starts off strong for you.  Let's talk!
