Thank you to all our families and students who helped us celebrate our teachers/staff last week. We have the BEST teachers/staff!

As the end of the year draws closer, I encourage you check your student's agenda for homework assignments. If your student has access to a computer, make sure they log onto iReady every day. Finally, continue to remind your student of proper school behavior. We know our students will finish strong!

Lastly, 5th grade parents - please mark your calendar for May 31. Dr. Julio Valle at Walker Middle will be holding a Meet and Greet with the Principal at 6:00 PM! This is a wonderful opportunity that you do not want to miss!

Patrick needs you to build him a SAIL CAR. A sail car is a vehicle that is powered by oneblow of your breath through a straw. In order for your car to travel a long distance, you will need to engineer a car that travels smoothly and captures the force of your breath in its sail. The three sail cars that travel the furthest will move on to the "Duel of the Schools" to compete against other mascots and schools. See flyer for more information!  Sail Car's will be due on May 18!
Congratulations

Last week, we were awarded with School of Quality honors in the Green School Recognition Program, as well as a check for $300 for reducing our energy consumption this year. THANK YOU to Ms. Burton for leading the charge on the Green School application, and to all of the teachers and staff who contributed time, energy, pictures, and writing for the application. Our banner will hang near the south gate entrance!

We are excited to share that 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Dawn Chehab was awarded with the Family and Community Involvement award last week for her work with the hydroponic garden.  Great job Mrs. Chehab!

We are also excited to share that Joe and Joyce Jackson represented Discovery Church as they were one of four chosen for the Southeast Learning Community Partner in Ed of the Year award.  We love you Discovery Church!
Teacher Appreciation Week!

Last week, we celebrated our teachers and staff all week long! Each day, students were asked to bring in a different item. Items included a note, chocolate, flowers, and snacks! Teachers especially enjoyed their new umbrellas from Dr. Helton and Mrs. Arias! On Wednesday, teachers and staff enjoyed a fantastic lunch sponsored by Discovery Church!
Shakespeare Theater Visits Winegard!
A few students from each grade level got some theater lessons from the amazing actors at Shakespeare Theater. All our students had a great time!
