As always, I encourage you to check your student's agenda for homework assignments. If your student has access to a computer, make sure they log onto iReady every day. We are looking for students to complete an hour of reading lessons and an hour of math lessons each week.

Winegard Teacher of the Week: Mrs. Seiler!
Congratulations to Mrs. Seiler, a 1st Grade Teacher, on being nominated for Teacher of the Week! Here are some fun facts about Mrs. Seiler that you may not know!
  • She has 3 children, one in 3rd grade (Hannah), one in Kindergarten (Brandon) and one in Preschool (Natalie). Her husband is Chris and he grew up in Orlando.
  • She attended Central Florida Community College in Ocala for her A.A. degree and the University of Central Florida in Orlando for her B.A.
  • She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling throughout Florida and the US visiting historical sites and parks.
  • Mrs. Seiler is a Steeler's fan!
  • She loves her Winegard family. The teachers here work endlessly to create learning opportunities fun and enriching, and our students are the reason she comes to work every day!
Kindergarten Roundup is Coming!
We will soon begin kindergarten registration for the 2016-17 school year. To begin kindergarten in the fall, a child must be five years old on or before September 1, 2016. Registration for Kindergarten will take place on May 9 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM!
Award Ceremonies
Students from Ms. Rymer's class
happily shared their new awards!
Students from Mrs. Stenberg's class
were excited about their awards!

Thank you to all the families who came in for the award ceremonies this past week! We are so proud of our students and the accomplishments they have made this past quarter. Another big thank you to the families who have scheduled/attended report card conferences!
Oration Contest!

A few months ago, some of our fifth graders participated in our Oration Contest. The 6 top speeches were presented to judges recently, and they were AWESOME! The quality of the speeches is a testament to the hard work our fifth grade teachers have put into teaching writing. The six students who participated were: Lita Montes, Jeishnaly Nunez-Pena, Edwin Pena, Alisha Boyer, Kathia Serrano-Perez and Milana Golubovic. Our top three winners are:

1st-Lita Montes
2nd-Kathia Serrano-Perez
3rd-Edwin Pena

Lita and Kathia will go on to the District competition. A HUGE thank you to Ms. Gardner, Ms. Owens, Mr. Bearden, Mr. Garrett, Ms. Carey, and Ms. Jones for coaching and helping out!
Uniforms!
Students in Mrs. Hoang's class look
great in their uniforms!
Students in Mr. Garrett's class also
look great in their red, white, and blue!

We are so proud of our Patriots in uniform! Please remember that school expectation is that students wear red, white, or blue tops (Winegard tee-shirts on Wednesdays) and khaki, blue, or black shorts/pants.
Recorder Club!

Lunch with Dr. Helton and Mr. Besedick!

Students who completed the Spring Break challenge as well as students who turned in 50 shop drops shared pizza and juice with Dr. Helton and Mr. Besedick recently!  Students enjoyed getting to eat lunch outside.  Afterwards, students played a friendly game of Speedball! Everyone had a great time!

Dad's Breakfast is Coming!
