A Word from the General Manager

Greetings and Salutations!

Autumn is here and with that comes the beautiful weather as we prepare for the winter season. As September came, the ACC has hit the ground running. We now have a new Executive in place for the ACC Board of Directors. I look forward to working with the lovely Jessica Dumas, Chair of the Board, Scott Rose, Vice-Chair and Terry Brown, Treasurer.

Last week on the 23rd we hosted the First Peoples Economic Growth Fund Luncheon at the Radisson Winnipeg Downtown. Thanks so much to FPEGF and TD Bank for co-sponsoring this event. Also I would like to thank our entrepreneurs Chantal Daniels, Brenda Parsons and Blair Owen for sharing their words about their experiences as business owners and testimonials about FPEGF. Thank you to all of you who attended.

We are currently accepting registrations for the Understanding Urban Reserves Event taking place on October 8th at the RBC Convention Centre. If you have not yet registered please do so by visiting http://www.winnipeg-chamber.com/events/Understanding-Urban-Reserves-57198/details
This event is taking place at a great time with the recent announcement that the government will not appeal a federal court decision on the fate of the Kapyong Barracks.

Another exciting event that is coming up soon is our 2015 Gala. I am very happy to announce that our keynote speaker will be Justice Murray Sinclair and our emcees are the legendary Ray Saint Germain and co-host of the weekday morning radio show on CBC Radio One, Marcy Markusa! Entertainment will be by the Norman Chief Memorial Dancers that, of course, includes high stepping Kevin Chief, MLA for Point Douglas. You really do not want to miss out on this high profile event taking place in the newly developed Event Centre at Club Regent.

I would like to welcome all new members from the month of September including Lawson Consulting and Surveying, DLF Consulting, Test 1 Inc., and Fisher River Economic Development.

Take care and stay gold,

Gloria Spence,
General Manager
