Currituck Heritage:  Surf and Turf Edition is the theme of this year's Heritage Festival which will be held at the Currituck County Rural Center on September 19 from 11-5. The event will feature live music, vendors, exhibitors, contests, activities for kids, a local beer and wine garden and much, much more!  Vouchers will be distributed to the first 1000 visitors that can be used with selected food vendors at the event.  The festival will be bigger and better than ever and you certainly don't want to miss it!   Read more.
  
4-H & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Currituck County is filled with talented musicians, actors and artisans.  Come display your talent at the "Currituck's Got Talent" contest to be held in conjunction with this year's Heritage Festival.  The contest is free to enter and prizes will be awarded.
FAMILY & CONSUMER SCIENCE
Do you need a little help honing your culinary skills?  The Family and Consumer Science Department will be holding a "Cooking Skills 101" class on September 28-30 at the Currituck Extension Center in Barco.  The class will take place in the evenings to accommodate the working public. Read more.
AGRICULTURE
The summer is drawing to a close but there are still plenty of local produce, seafood and other items to be enjoyed as we head into the fall.  Peruse the latest "Currituck Grown" newsletter to learn where you can access these tasty treats.  The featured fruit this month is apples.
