Quiet week for a change.  The students and teachers continue to plug away at their work.  Fortunately the weather has cooperated with us.  Unfortunately, with the additional daylight time and the seasonal allergies kicking in, student traffic to my office has increased...a lot of crabby children!  I know it's hard, but please maintain a strict bedtime for your children until the last day of school.  Thank you!

We look forward to Monday.  Fr. Robert White will be here to celebrate our Donor Appreciation Mass and Grade 8 Pinning Ceremony.  This will be the final Mass of the school year where the entire student body is present.  Please join us on this special occasion when we celebrate the many benefactors of St. Michael's Academy and our eighth graders as they begin their rite of passage to becoming St. Michael's Academy graduates.

Enjoy the weekend.

Peace,

Ann Dougal
Principal

From The Classroom of Ms. Laporte - Computer Lab

Computer Lab Is A Busy Place

As the school year draws to a close, the children are busy finishing up their end of year projects. Here is a break-down of what is going on in each grade:

Pre-K and Kindergarten have had a fun and exciting year in the computer lab as they continue to learn basic computer skills. Grades 1 and 2 have been hard at work and have greatly improved their typing skills this year. Grade 2 has been busy with PowerPoint and learning how to add slides to their presentations. Grade 3 has been working on completing a scavenger hunt using our schools website and grade 4 has created PowerPoint presentations for their teacher, Mr. Malmborg. Grades 5, 6, and 7 are creating and presenting Jeopardy style presentations to their classmates. They are enjoying testing one another on a variety of topics such as sports, music, and entertainment. Grade 8 has completed their final assignment on the periodic table of elements for their teacher Ms. Kaimi.

As you can see the children have been very busy and very productive this year!

An Update from PACE

Dear Catholic School Parents,

I want to thank each of you for taking the time to complete the MCAS/Adams Scholarship survey and for also for contacting your State Senator regarding this public policy matter.

I am happy to report that the State Senate last week adopted PACE's amendment to permit non-public high school students to voluntarily take the MCAS exam,so that these same students might qualify for the Adams Scholarship.

I want to especially thank Senator Mike Rodrigues (Assistant Majority Leader) who was the lead sponsor of this FY '17 budget amendment along with co-sponsors Senators Flanagan, Brownsberger, Rush, Timilty, Lesser, Humason, and Ross. I ask that you join me in thanking your State Senator for their support as this was adopted by a consensus vote in the Senate.

For this provision now to become law, the House needs to support the amendment, so that it will be included in the state's FY '17 Conference Committee budget. I ask that you contact your State Representative and ask her/him to request the House Budget Conference Committee to support the Senate MCAS/Adams Scholarship provision for non-public school high school students.

You may find your State Representative by using the link below...

Should you have any questions, please let me know.

Many thanks for all of your help.

All God's Blessings,

Steve Perla

Our prayers continue to be with Mr. Rancitelli, who is undergoing treatment for a cancer recurrence. Each week, a different homeroom sends him cards. If your family would like to send a card, please send it to school with your child, clearly marked for Mr. Rancitelli. His family has set up a blog to write about this experience.Click here to read the blog.
