MWRA Advisory Board to Present

Senate President Therese Murray with 2013 Legislator of the Year Award 

 

MWRA Advisory Board Chairwoman Katherine Dunphy, along with fellow officers of the Advisory Board, will recognize the efforts of the Honorable Therese Murray, Senate President, to put water and wastewater infrastructure back on the legislative priority list.  

 

The Senate President joins past recipients, including:

 

 Senate:

 

Former Senate Presidents Thomas Birmingham and Robert Travaglini, Former Senators Robert Havern and Marian Walsh and current Senate Chairman of Ways and Means Steven Brewer;

 

House:

 

Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, House Majority Leader Ron Mariano, Former Speakers Charles Flaherty, Thomas Finneran, Salvatore DiMasi, Representatives John H. Rogers, Paul Donato and current Congresswoman Katherine Clark.

Operations Committee Votes to
Double 
I/I Community Grant/Loan Program
  

At the December 2013 Advisory Board Operations Committee meeting, members overwhelmingly supported a significant expansion of the Community Infiltration/Inflow (I/I) Grant/Loan Program.  

 

Members voted to create Phases 9 and 10 and double each phase from $40 to $80 million per phase.  In addition, sunset provisions on the grant portions of Phase 6 (FY18) and Phase 7 (FY21) were also recommended.  

 

Further discussion and votes are scheduled to occur at the Executive Committee meeting on January 10th and at the full Advisory Board meeting on January 16th in Lexington.  

 

 

Advisory Board to Release Economic Development Report on January 16th 

 

The Advisory Board will officially release its long-awaited report "The Study on Investment in Water and Wastewater Infrastructure and Economic Development."  

 

The report will be available to the media, membership and the public on thumb drives and on the Advisory Board's website. 

 

Travis Ahern to Join Advisory Board Staff

 

On January 2nd Travis Ahern will join the staff of the MWRA Advisory Board as a Finance and Policy Analyst.  Travis comes to us from the Town of Weston, Massachusetts where he served as a Financial Analyst for two years.
