A letter from the CEO of the Methodist Home

Dear family and friends of the Methodist Home,

A particularly important announcement:

US News and World Report in their "Best Nursing Homes Rankings" acknowledged the Methodist Home of DC with a perfect five star rating.  Their rankings are based on annual unannounced site visits and surveys conducted by CMS, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Methodist Home's skilled nursing care facility earned an overall five star rating and achieved a perfect five star score in each of the three main sub categories: Health Inspections, Nurse Staffing and Quality Measures. The Methodist Home was the only skilled nursing facility in the metropolitan DC region to receive the perfect score.

Our Nursing Facility staff has done an excellent job ensuring that every resident is receiving the best possible person-centered care. This honor, however, is not just for our great nursing department but reflects the efforts of our entire team including Social Work, Activities, Maintenance, Housekeeping, Dining Services and Admissions. We are fortunate to have such a highly professional and dedicated staff.

LGBT & Aging Program a Success

On Friday, February 21st the Methodist Home hosted a program in partnership with Seabury Resources for Aging entitled "Aging in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community: An examination of the unique issues and challenges of a growing elder LGBT  population."

The program had a diverse group of professionals in attendance, and received very positive feedback. Seabury Resources for Aging commented that "the content was informative and the environment that Dr. [Imani] Woody and Jane [Lincoln, LICSW] created fostered open communication in a "safe" place. Each panelist brought a unique perspective that added a richness to the program."

We are pleased to have been able to host such an important program and look forward to many more educational programs in the future.
