for the Summer
Reading Program!
On Your Mark, Get Set.... Read!
That's the theme of this year's SRP, and that's what we're getting ready for here at the library.

The summer season begins with a 6 p.m. kickoff June 29, when the Traveling Lantern Theatre will be the featured performers. They'll be telling the tale of an athlete's travels to the first Olympic games. A bouncy house, family activities, and Cub Scout concession stand will also be available.

In the meantime, you can register now for activities and events! Visit the library's website calendar (on the homepage) and click the blue "Register" button to sign up for whatever interests you.
For those who want to skip the programs and just attend the kickoff and/or the Aug. 10 finale, click here.

Logging books is also easier than ever. Simply send an email to [email protected] with "Book Log" in the subject heading. In your email, include your name and the titles and authors of the books you've read. Send your email and we'll track your progress here! Those who have logged books will be invited to the Top Reader Reception and get front-row seats to the finale, which will feature a special Magic Variety Show!

Good luck and happy reading!
Adult Summer Reading Program
is Coming Soon!

Why should the kids have all the fun?

Keep on reading and you may win an amazing gift basket! Just read a book or listen to an audiobook. Each time you do, we will give you a chance to win one of our summer reading gift baskets.

Entering is fast and easy. And, the more books you read or listen to, the higher your chances are to win. Stop by the library to take a look at our beautiful gift baskets and be sure to join in this year's adult summer reading program. Adult summer reading begins on June 29th and is for readers ages 18+. Winners will be announced at our finale on August 10th. Good luck and keep on reading!
SRP... What Counts?

You just signed up for summer reading and may be asking yourself, "What type of reading counts on the summer reading book log?" ALL books are acceptable and so are magazines! All kids' magazines, such National Geographic Junior, Ranger Rick, American Girl or Highlights (or any of the over 45+ magazine titles available for adults if you are participating in the Adult SRP), can all be added to a book log. Comic books and graphic novels? Yes, please! They count, too! Cereal boxes? Sorry, no. But cookbooks? Yes, absolutely!

The more materials logged, the more chances to earn raffle tickets, Paw Prints, prizes, an invitation to our Top Reader Reception and front row seats for the season finale. Help the library beat its past record! Don't hold back, log them in. If you have a suggestion for a good read, let us know. It may be something we can add to our collection.

To register your reading picks, email [email protected] and put "Book Logs" in the subject title.

Summer Concerts
to Feature Local Musicians
The library is excited to be able to serve as venue for two concerts in July this summer.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, the Wallkill Summer Music Beginner Band, Junior Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band will perform with the SUNY Ulster Jazz Band.

A performance at 7 p.m. the following night, Wednesday, July 27, will feature the Wallkill Summer Music Senior Band along with the SUNY Ulster College/Community Band.

Both events will be an hour-to-90-minutes long and will take place on the library lawn. In the event of inclement weather, the concerts will be held at SUNY Ulster in Stone Ridge.

Our thanks to Wallkill Central School District's music coordinator, Adam Kuliszewski, for collaborating with the library to create this community event! Please note that the original times of both concerts have changed since their initial announcement - they are now both at 7 p.m.

Make sure to pack a picnic dinner and join us for an evening (or two) of open-air entertainment!

Cave Quest VBS: Following Jesus,
the Light of the World!

A free summer kids' event called Cave Quest VBS will be hosted at Wallkill Reformed Church from Sunday, July 17 to Thursday, July 21. At Cave Quest, kids explore what it means to follow Jesus through dark times. Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of Jesus' love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they'll take home and play with all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes with a Cave Quest Closing that gets everyone involved in living what they've learned.

Cave Quest is for kids from Pre-K (age 4) to those who have completed 5th grade and will run from 6 to 8:15 p.m. each day. For more information, call the church office at 845-895-2181 or register online.
