Exercise Your Mind with This Year's SRP!
|
Registration for this year's Summer Reading Program: On Your Mark, Get Set... READ! is coming up fast! June 15 is the day you can sign up for the many individual programs offered between June 29 and August 10. Signing up for just one of those programs automatically gives you admittance into the library's kickoff and finale celebrations and means you can start logging your books come June 29, when the program starts.
If you'd rather skip the programs and just log books this season, all you'll have to do is click on the "Register Here" button that will be on the homepage of the library website and fill in the information requested.
More detailed information is available at the library. Stop in or give a call to find out more! |

SRP Kicks Off June 29!
Join us for this year's Summer Reading Program kickoff at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 29! That's when the Traveling Lantern Theater will be at the library, along with scores of family activities, a bouncy house, and much more!
During the evening's performance, you'll hear the tale of Vladimir Cashewninski, a young athlete preparing to compete in the Olympic games who, the night before his big day, dreams of Ancient Olympia and teams up with the audience to explore the first Olympic games.
We hope you'll join us as we launch another summer season filled with friends, fun, and great stories!

Book-logging Super Easy This Year Once you're registered for the Summer Reading Program, make sure to stock up on some good reads, because you can start logging what you read on June 29, the day of the kickoff.
This year, logging your books during the SRP is easier than ever. All you do is send an email to cthorenz@rcls.org with the titles and authors of the books you want to log. Also include your child's name and grade, and be sure to put "Book Log" in the subject heading of the email. Logs will be tallied at the library, and any Summer Reading Program member who has recorded their books will be invited to a Top Reader Reception on Aug. 10, and get a front-row seat to the finale on the same day, which will feature Steve Johnson's Magic Variety Show.
Remember, parents, kids who read grow into adults who succeed, whether their poison is a classic or a graphic novel - it doesn't matter. Don't let the summer slide bring your student's grades down come fall - keep their minds active with visits to the library! |
| Programs Abound for Every Interest!
When it comes to activities and events, there's something for everyone at the library this summer!
Summer Reading Program highlights include Yoga for Kids, Fishing, the Home-School Art Club, 3D Printing, Anatomy Drawing, and much more! Our special guests this year will include a return visit from the very popular Rolling Video Game Arcade, Animal Embassy, musicians, and a magician.
Of course, favorites such as story time and craft-making will also be available.
Registration for all activities and events opens June 15 - keep an eye on the library's website for details!

Be Part of a Flash Mob This Summer! To initiate the free summer movie series provided by VOW (Vision of Wallkill), Adrienne Perine will be initiating a Flash Mob on Friday night, July 15, when the first free movie of the season, The Bad News Bears, will be shown in Garrison Park. Since the movie was released in 1976, Adrienne has chosen the Bee Gees song, "You Should Be Dancing", for the dance. It was a top hit for that year. To participate, go to the Vision of Wallkill website or Facebook page. There you will find a You Tube link for the choreography. If you contact Adrienne at dramapearl@aol.com, she will provide you with a white or black hat to decorate. That way when you show up that Friday, we will know who is participating. This is a "spontaneous" gathering, one that will prove to be much fun! Now put on your dancing shoes and find out more! |
