SRP kicks off Tuesday!
The summer programming registrations are flooding in, but there's still room in some of this season's exciting offerings:
  • Reading, Writing, and 3D Printing will allow participants to explore the exciting new technology of 3D printing! Kids ages 12 and up, along with an adult family member, can attend one of two sessions (July 2 and 9 or July 16 and 23). On July 30, all participants will be welcome to attend a mini-Maker Faire to display the objects they designed and printed and discuss future 3D printer programs!
  • Masters of Code will introduce participants ages 11 and up to computer programming and its concepts, and teach them the basics of the computer language SCRATCH.
  • Behind the Scenes is a theatrical journey for ages 8 and up that will combine acting exercises with drama techniques and the history of theatre.
  • Superhero Boot Camp, for kids 7-9 years old, will include science stories, experiments, and fun for all. Come dressed as your own favorite hero and enjoy!
  • Craft projects like a papier mache bowl and wood burning will be offered on Mondays at 11 a.m. for ages 10 and up, as well!

Visit the library's online calendar to register for these and other events and activities.

And don't forget that the Summer Reading Program kicks off Tuesday, when Jester Jim performs at 6:30 p.m.! Book logging starts that day, as well - sign up for the SRP now if you haven't already, and revisit that site to log in and begin keeping a list of what you've read!

See you Tuesday!

This summer, take a special Quest
Kids who want to make the most of their Summer Reading Program experience are invited to chart a course to a special celebration this year!
Those who register for the SRP can pick up a Quest map at the library and follow the directions on the back of it. All you do is complete at least 15 of the tasks listed on the map, making sure to collect charms and stones along the way, and have a library staff member, program leader, or shop owner cross off the task you've completed.
Turn in your Quest map by 8 p.m. Aug. 4 and you'll receive a special invitation to the Top Reader Reception and Quest Celebration Aug. 6!
Good luck!
Amazon releases list of top picks

Amazon's list of the Best Books of the Year So Far is out, and you can use it as a guideline the next time you're in the library!
The list includes Wallkill Public Library offerings like Dead Wake, The Nightingale, Missoula, and more. If there's a book on the list our library does not carry, you can order it - one of the other 46 libraries in the RCLS system will ship it over to Wallkill for you to pick up!
If you have questions about placing a hold on a book, don't hesitate to ask at the circ desk, or call us at 895-3707.
