Books Alive! cast ready
to take to the stage again
Books Alive! performers take a break from rehearsal.
Books Alive! children theater company's ninth season is drawing to a close, which means a great show is coming up soon!
Two performances of this year's musical, Magic & Mayhem, will be presented at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at John G. Borden Middle School.
This year's cast of 29 (ages 7 and up) has been hard at work since January writing, memorizing, and rehearsing with directors Adrienne and Jim Perine and composer Barbara Ganin. While several actors have written their own scripts, adaptations of popular stories such as Alice in Wonderland, Where the Wild Things Are, and Harry Potter will also be included in the show.
Tickets will be available at the door for suggested donations of $5 for adults and $20 for families of 6 or more. Children under 5 get in for free.
The production will be dedicated to the memory of library champion and community leader Stewart Crowell, who passed away in February.

Board needs a few good men (or women)
Board members gather for a special  meeting last year.
During WWII, there was a great need for volunteers for our armed forces and someone came up with the slogan, "Looking for a few good men." Well,  your library board of trustees is in need of a few good men and/or women to serve on the board with us. For now, a volunteer could be appointed and would then have to run for election in September.

What do we do? We are the governing body of your library. Together with the library director our goal is to ensure that the Wallkill Public Library is able to enrich the lives of all the members of our community.  Members of the board are willing to give of their time and talents to ensure that your library is the best it can be. All it takes is one night per month (the first Monday at 7 p.m.) and participation in at least one committee, which would meet in the afternoon, evening, or weekend, depending on the committee members' availability.

Please contact a member of the board to express your interest or get more information. You may do this by leaving a note for us at the library desk or by phone or email. Please be sure to include your address, phone number and email address if you leave a note.

Wanted: Your art/collectibles for display
Last year's quilt display was a popular attraction.
Wallkill Public Library is looking for artworks and/or collectibles to display in the glass case  located at the library's entrance, or around the library itself.
Arrangements may include everything from personal collections to hanging art. If you have items you'd like to sell, the library would display those, as well, for a small portion of the sales.
Those interested can contact director Mary Lou Carolan at 895-3707, or email her at mlcarolan@rcls.org.
Daytripping? Check this book out....
Now that spring is here, parents may be on the lookout for fun family activities that don't require much travel.
If you're among them, you'll be interested in the library's latest addition to our local collection - Let's Take the Kids, by Joanne Michaels. The book contains a huge assortment of local activities perfect for any random afternoon - including parks, historic sites, hiking, biking, museums, zoos, and more.
The book will be part of the local section the library is currently building as we weed out our older nonfiction and make room on our overcrowded shelves. Stay tuned for updates!
Good news for LEGO fans this spring!
Play-Well TEKnologies, the popular hosts of LEGO Camps of summers past, will be at the library April 17 for a two-hour special program!
Grades K-6 are invited to attend this 1-3 p.m. event, which will feature LEGO building concepts that make use of physics, mechanical and structural engineering, and architecture.
Registration is required as these programs tend to fill up quickly.
LEGO Camp will be returning this summer, as well, during the week of July 14-18. Once again, Play-Well will be running it. Stay tuned for details!
