WPL welcomes new staff member
Visitors might have seen a new face behind the circulation desk, recently - Lori Mullooly has joined the Wallkill Public Library staff.
Lori, who has a BA in journalism from the University of Connecticut, has extensive experience that includes work with libraries in Oklahoma City and Stafford, Conn. She's very excited to join us, and we're thrilled to have her!
The library's handyman, Wayne Sebesta, is not exactly a newcomer, but deserves a note of recognition for all the hard work he's devoted to the library. In addition to building the new reading nook downstairs completely on his own, his help with the library's reorganization has been indispensable. Thanks, Wayne!
St. Patty's parade/scramble coming up
Hard as it may be to believe with the mountains of snow still heaped on the ground, St. Patty's Day is around the corner!
March 23 will kick off with the hamlet's annual Shamrock Scramble 5K, beginning with an 8 a.m. reporting time at the Wallkill Firehouse. For registration sheets, stop by the library. Entries must be postmarked by March 13.
The St. Patrick's Day parade will follow the race, with a 1 p.m. lineup at the John G. Borden Middle School. Come out and enjoy the sights, crowds, and (hopefully) warmer air!
Happy birthday to Books Alive! composer
Wallkill Public Library wanted to extend the very best birthday wishes to Barbara Ganin, composer and musical director of the library's children's theater company, Books Alive!
With Barbara's help, the cast and crew of this season's show are preparing for another fantastic performance, set for March 29 at the John G. Borden Middle School. Thanks for another spectacular year, Barbara - and we wish  you many more to come!
