Books Alive! coming soon
Season 9 of the Books Alive! Children's Theatre project is about to launch, and this year may be the best yet!
Magic and Mayhem will be performed March 29 by this season's company of talented 8- to 14-year-old actors. The show will feature material from works such as Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin, and Where the Wild Things Are. Once again, Adrienne and Jim Perine will direct the production, and musical director Barbara Ganin will compose and accompany the show's original score.
Practices will start Jan. 7, and will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each Tuesday or Wednesday thereafter, depending on which scene is being rehearsed that particular day.
The season will culminate with an April 26 trip to Broadway's New Victory Theater to see Fluff. A pizza party will follow, during which Books Alive! participants will get a chance to talk to the show's actors.
Two informational sessions will be held next week to fill in the parents of those interested in participating on the details of this season's event. Those will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and will last about 45 minutes.
Both sessions are identical, so participants only need to attend one. All issues regarding cost, permission slips, and other details will be covered during these orientations. Those who can't make it should call Mary Lou at 895-3707.
