Early this school year students were introduced to a program called, Rachel's Challenge. This program motivated students to see everyone as valuable and worthy of dignity and respect. When students see the painful scars that their brutal works can leave, the bullying, name-calling and gossip will stop. Rachel's Challenge gives students the skills and desire to make these changes in their culture permanent, while equipping them to reach out to the hurting within their sphere-of-influence. We are looking for students with the desire to make changes at TFMS to join our club, Friends of Rachel. We encourage you to fill out an application and be the start to our "chain reaction". Please pick up an application in the office. Your completed applications can be returned to Mrs. Holt in room 2401 or your homeroom teacher. |
All new spirit wear is in the office for viewing. Please see the Turkey Foot Middle School website for more information. It's not too early to be thinking about Christmas! www.tfic.webs.com |

Come out and have great time and support the Youth Service Center who is working the concession stand. All profits from the concession stand are going towards holiday assistance. Positive Behavior Instructional Support (PBIS)
Turkey Foot Middle School is proud to have a successful PBIS plan for our school. This plan incorporates our school wide expectations (TFMS) and our reward program. Students receive consequences for not following our expectations - that's a given but students also receive rewards for demonstrating good behavior. Our plan for the year is even more extensive than in past years.
The Reward Plan includes:
Positive postcards mailed home, Spirit of TFMS Award, Good Student Referrals, Star Student lunch and quarterly reward events.
The quarterly reward events are available to students who have NOT received any of the following:
In-School Suspension, Out-of- School Suspension, Bus Suspension, Office Assigned After School Detention, 2 or more Office Referrals, 2 or more Failing Grades for the Quarter.
Please encourage your children to work towards the Quarterly Rewards Event. One of the events last year was a show by Chinese Acrobats. It was amazing. Our goal is to have 100% participation.
If you have questions or concerns please contact Mr. Cline or Ms. Obermeyer. |

Kentucky Safe Schools Week October 21-27
Bullying is widespread across our nation's and Kentucky's schools. Kentucky Center for School Safety wants to encourage every school across Kentucky to participate in Kentucky Safe Schools Week. The theme this year is "BULLYING: Be Part of the Cure"
and emphasizes the part each individual can play in stopping this harmful "disease" from becoming "viral". During this campaign each student and staff member is empowered to become "Part of the Cure" helping to do their part to stop bullying and create a healthy, respectful climate at school.
During this week long observance, a concerted effort will bring together all Kentuckians to improve safety in our schools by educating students, staff and communities about the true definition of bullying, how to be consistent in handling situations that arise and strategies to prevent bullying behavior that can impact the educational process. A pledge, Power Points, lesson plans, interactive websites and school-wide curriculum are available for teachers and a broad range of resources are available for school administrators, parents and community members at www.kysafeschools.org/ssw.php .
We want to encourage all students, educators, parents, and community members to take the online PLEDGE as we celebrate on Friday, October 26!
The online pledge focuses on the letters that spell the word CURE. C -Care, U-Understand, R-Respect, E-Educate, with these four little words are key toward improving the climate in our schools. www.kysafeschools.org/bullycure I pledge to do my part to STOP BULLYING by:
- Caring more; considering others' feelings - Understanding all; appreciating others' differences - Respecting myself; learning to respect myself and others - Educating others; sharing that I will not bully or allow it
