Letter from Our President

As we begin a new year, we again thank Lisa Phillips who served a two-year term as President and led us into new fundraisers and the technology revolution.  Read Lisa's annual report (link below) which outlines all of Sallie w Awardour accomplishments.

Please note that I used the words "our accomplishments" above. What we accomplish in the Guild cannot be done without everyone's support. The President cannot do it alone.  It takes leadership - and while we have the president's leadership, we also have our vice presidents, committee chairs, project leaders and more.

Guild 2013 Gift to CSO $40,000
Annual Meeting Exceeds Expectations!!
May 31, Guild members and guests gathered
at the home of Melissa and Jack Woolf in Royden for the election of officers and transfer of "the gavel" to 2013-14 President Sallie Moody.  The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Guild's annual gift to Bob Stickler, the symphony's ED.

Area Vice Presidents shared their committees' accomplishments, and Sallie shared the vision for the coming year, including some wonderful sneak peeks at our upcoming events, complete with props!

Guild members once again set the bar extraordinarily high by generously providing the most delicious food.  It is notable that we used SignUpGenius effectively for both RSVPs and food assignments.

Young pianist, Ian Stewart, provided beautiful music for the event.  Collegians Brandt Woolf and Sean Evans impeccably served as bartenders.  Very special thanks to Hospitality Chairs Sharon Lacy and Betty Lou Newcomb for planning and executing another stellar event for members.

Meet Me in St. Louis!
We're Award Winning ...

Best of Best

Representatives of The Guild receive Best of the Best Award from the Volunteer Council of the

 League of American Orchestras.

l. to r. bottom:  Jackie Slaugenhaupt, Catherine Connor, Melissa Woolf, Sallie Moody, Linda Weisbruch

l. to r. top:  Helen Shaffer, President/Volunteer Council, Lisa Phillips

Seven Guild members attended
the 68th Annual Conference of the League of American Orchestras in St. Louis June 17-20. As a  picture is worth a thousand words, here are TWO!

Everyone came back enlightened and visioning for the next decade - from a stunning performance by the St. Louis Symphony of John Adams Dr. Atomic Symphony to a key note address by Futurist Elizabeth Merritt, from design thinking workshops to public value statements to cross-cultural competency - we learned ALOT!

Jon at Piano

Carolina Panther running back, Jonathan Stewart entertained us with his own piano composition.  He generously donated the autographed football pictured with him, which brought $2500 in live auction.

Highlights:
  • Classical Idol raised over $53,000 in one fabulous evening of entertainment.
  • The audience determined by text-vote that Victoria Pan, CSYO violinist, was their favorite performer of the evening.
