Festival of Trees Sets the Tone
Guild merry-makers landed at the Jerald Melberg Gallery on December 2 for our annual Holiday Party. The evening centered around the Guild's second annual Festival of Trees - this was the final night of the secret auction for these 13 designer decorated miniature holiday trees.

CONNECTIONS! News
A night at Olive This! ...  on Nov 15, Guild members gathered in Piper Glen at Olive This! for the first CONNECTIONS event of the season - an olive oil and vinegar tasting.

Olive This!
(l. to r.) Cynthia Bradford, Barbara Kopald,
Sallie Moody and Lisa Phillips

Co-owners Andrea Edwards and Kara Deir gave Guild members an overview of how the extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars were produced and explained the range of offerings in the store.  Guests made their way around the store, tasting a wide variety of flavors from blood orange-infused olive oil to dark chocolate balsamic vinegar.

Guild Winter Wonderland!
On December 2, Guild members gathered at the Jerald Melberg Gallery amidst the Festival of Trees.  Eighty Guild members, spouses and guests attended.  The backdrop of beautiful artwork and sparkling trees set a wonderful holiday mood.  Miranda Mahanes (CYSO member and daughter of Guild member Julie Mahanes) and Rebecca Gaskins played viola holiday duets.

A big thank you to social co-chairs Sharon Lay and Betty Lou Newcomb fort their picture perfect planning of our event.  Kudos to caterer Sheletha Rollins for the scrumptious food.  Shout out to Wilton Connor for photographing our event for posterity.  Special thanks to Mary Melberg and the gallery for being our gracious hosts.

Spotlight on Jason Hyatt
Man behind the scene at ImaginOn a master librarian, and a viola player to boot!
Jason Hyatt ImaginOn
Jason at the front desk!
Native Charlottean and Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra alumnus, Jason started playing the viola at age 9 and studied privately with Charlotte Symphony violist Nancy Levine throughout high school.  He received his BA and MLIS degrees from UNC-Greensboro, where he was a member of the university's symphony orchestra and viola ensemble.

Jason has worked for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library since 2003 and is currently the Library Manager at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center.  He is thrilled that ImaginOn offers a regular home for the Musical Petting Zoo, where young people have opportunities to try out real instruments.  Though his days as a violist have come to an end, he remains a big fan of orchestral music and a strong supporter of music education.
