New Members Committee
   Inaugurates Guild Night
   at the CSO

All Guild members were invited to an Oct 6 reception at Urban Sip at the Ritz-Carlton (15th floor) followed by the Classics performance of Firebird! at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.  It was a really great way to both support the Symphony and socialize with members and guests.

Many thanks to all those members who exchanged their Friday night tickets for Saturday - Guild Member Joan Foley (Group Ticket Sales for the CSO) made the process effortless!  Betty Seifert was liaison for the Ritz cocktail reception - and it was flawless, as only the Ritz can do!

You won't want to miss this lively, fun evening when we repeat it next year!

The Shumways Entertain with
Music in the Family-style!

Ruth Shumway, nine-year-old daughter of Mary and Dave Shumway, headlines the High Ridge Pickers ...
Shumways
(l. to r.) Mary, Ruth and Dave Shumway - The High Ridge Pickers
Formed four years ago to encourage Ruth's interest and skill in playing the fiddle, the High Ridge Pickers perform at a variety of venues, including festivals, jam groups, youth showcases and retirement communities.

Ruth is accompanied by her mom, Mary, on the mandolin and dad Dave on the guitar.  Together, the family has fun exploring the rich heritage of Southern Appalachian music - old time, bludgrass and gospel that is still taught and performed throughout this region.

We were honored with a performance recently at our Fall Membership Meeting.  What a treat for all!
