Baobab Fruit Powder from BI Nutraceuticals

baobabIndigenous to Africa and harvested from the pods of the mystical "Tree of Life", baobab fruit is traditionally used to create a delicious, tangy health drink. Baobab fruit has a citrusy flavour and boasts more vitamins and minerals than we typically find in oranges, bananas and even blackcurrants.

In addition to its potent micronutrient profile, the soluble fibre in baobab has prebiotic-like activity which supports gut health.  Its high content of total (i.e. soluble and insoluble) fibre by weight also makes it a useful ingredient for numerous food applications.

Boabab fruit has already exploded onto the markets in Asia and Europe, and has started appearing on South African shelves too.

BI Nutraceuticals' Baobab Fruit Powder is US GRAS certified and can be used in a wide range of applications such as sports/ nutritional supplements, smoothies, fruit juices, breakfast cereals, bars and dairy products.

Turn Carbs into Fibre with Carb Converter!

NEC proudly introduces Carb Converter, one of three new products being launched at Supplyside West in Las Vegas this week.  Carb Converter contains a proprietary blend of enzymes including Transglucosidase, which is proven to convert carbohydrates to non-digestible fibre.

This reduces the caloric impact of ingested carbs and also reduces the absorption of glucose following a meal.

The launch of Carb Converter follows that of Biocore Edge, another proprietary blend which facilitates optimum digestion and absorption of whey, soy and rice proteins typically used in sports nutrition supplements for muscle building and recovery.

Focus on Phospholipids from Lipoid

Phospholipids are essential building blocks of all biological membranes exhibiting a plethora of functions.  Besides their role as structural molecules, they are essential for the functionality and activity of cells.

Among the naturally occurring phospholipids, the most important components for dietary purposes are Phosphatidylcholine (PC), Phosphatidylserine (PS) and Glycerophosphocholine (GPC).

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is a major constituent of cellular membranes, plays a role in liver regeneration and is well-known for its cholesterol-lowering effect.  Soybean-derived Phosphatidylserine (PS) is most concentrated in the human brain and nerves and supports brain health and memory.  Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) is a component of breast milk and plays a vital role in tissue growth and renewal.

Besides their important function as actives, phospholipids can be applied in dietetic products for emulsification, encapsulation and controlled release of active ingredients, as well as for the enhancement of bioavailability, stability, and shelf-life of sensitive ingredients.

Due to their unique properties, Lipoid's phospholipids from plant origin present exciting opportunities to nutrition technologists as they are natural, PCR-negative or GMO-free, and are produced only with safe materials.

NEW: Potassium Magnesium Citrate for Clear Beverages and Near Water

Potassium salts are generally known to impart a bitter or salty taste but the new Magnesium Potassium Citrate from our principal Dr Paul Lohmann is neutral in taste and also highly soluble - perfect for use in powdered beverages, dietary supplements and clear beverages such as "near-waters".

This new salt provides an optimal balance of magnesium and potassium combined in a single product: Only 1.32 grams of this new product will cover 15 % of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) in magnesium, and 18 % of the potassium RDA requirements. Both magnesium and potassium are important for a healthy heart; whereby potassium maintains normal blood pressure and magnesium contributes to normal muscle functions.

Unlike other potassium salts, Magnesium Potassium Citrate is not hygroscopic and blends easily with other ingredients.
