Final Exams - Summer is Almost Here!
|
Students in all grades have been busy this week writing final exams. Final exams are written for English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science courses (including Provincial Exams in English 10, Mathematics 10, Science 10, Social Studies 11 and English 12). Other courses completed their final exam in the weeks leading up to the end of classes.
After an exam preparation day on Monday, where teachers were in classrooms answering questions and providing last minute tutorial sessions, exams started on Tuesday. Every student has had a 'final' every day since with today being the last exam day of the year. We know our students have worked exceptionally hard to prepare and we expect nothing but their best work. The evidence comes out next week with report cards being issued on Thursday, from 11am to 3pm. We wish the students a wonderful and 'book free' weekend and some well- earned time to relax!

An Alum in London, England!
|
Rachel, Grade 11, has been interviewing King David alumni, fo r the Alumni Corner, which is featured in our school newsletter. Today, Rachel shares news from Alan Schweber, Class of 2008, who is currently living in London, England.
Why did you decide to make the move from McGill University to Queen Mary University of London, England?
I made the jump across the pond for various reasons. First and foremost was my intention of entering the London legal market. I had, after studying economics and international relations at McGill, a strong interest of seeking a vocation that permitted me to incorporate my love of travel with my ardent interests in finance, economics, and politics. Using these criteria, I discovered, through speaking to several lawyers, that modern commercial law was just the right fit. London, above all, retained a special status as the center of all things legal. It truly is a global city where one can practice and work with lawyers from all jurisdictions. Queen Mary accepted me to their LLB program - the reviews for the school were great and it seemed like a great place to start my legal career. So far it has been a terrific experience. Read More

Tickets Selling Quickly for JFGV Campaign Opening!
|
Seinfeld's "George", that infamous double-dipper of chips, will share his unique and entertaining perspective to launch the 2013 Federation Annual Campaign. Now, that's a show about something! We all know Jason Alexander as Seinfeld's George Costanza, but there's more to this Tony Award winning actor and director than meets the eye. He has traveled frequently to Israel to promote peace through a two-state solution, and even met with President Shimon Perez. The Huffington Post reported that it is "through comedy and humor (that Alexander) hopes to help advance the idea of two states for two people."
When you've got a comic genius who also cares about Israel and community, you know our Campaign Opening won't be a show about nothing.
