Mazal Tov to the Graduating Class of 2013!

King David proudly presents our Class of 2013!

Last night, King David High School celebrated the end of a fantastic year for the graduating Class of 2013 and the beginning of an exciting new journey. Parents, friends, teachers and guests filled the atrium to honour this talented group of young adults!

After a warm welcome from our Master of Ceremonies, Alex Monchamp, a D'var Torah from Rabbi Berger and greetings from Board of Directors Co-Presidents Natalie Rosengarten and Ari Shiff, Russ Klein, Head of School, delivered a farewell address to the graduating class.

Mr. Klein told the graduates, "If I could do any one thing it would be to grant this wish for you - that you acquire perspective - because with perspective comes patience - and to teach you to be calm, to relax, to laugh, to know that hard work always pays off (just not always in the way you think or at the time you think it must). To have you understand that there are so many different paths to the same point - in fact the number is infinite - and there is no end point, only points along the way."

Grade 12 student, Vivian Grinfeld delivered a heart-felt address on behalf of her classmates, "We are immensely appreciative of the teachers and administrators in this room; with your help we learned to set high goals, and more importantly, we even learned to achieve them. To our families: It is because of you we are the remarkable adults before you today."

Vivian added, "As adults next year, we will join the hundreds of alumni that represent King David outside its welcoming walls. We have the opportunity to fulfill the prophet Isaiah's insight, to be "A light unto the nations." As we graduate tonight, let us be that light and shine brightly like the individual stars I know we are, because I believe we will all be successful in whatever it is we decide to do."

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards and scholarships. An addition to this year's awards was the presentation of a King David mezuzzah by our Parent Action Committee (PAC), so that when our graduates use them, they will know that a small piece of their King David home will always be with them. After a wonderful reception at the school, a spectacular Graduation Dinner was held at Schara Tzedeck.

Thank you to the wonderful team of Grade 11 parent volunteers who assisted in decorating the school and also to the many staff members who made the evening such a success. A special thanks goes to our Graduation teacher sponsor, Julie Lane who so capably coordinated all the details relating to the graduation ceremony.

A final thank you to Limor Sabi and LX Laser and Metal for the metal work for the mezzuzot and to photographer, Jocelyne Halle` for many of the photographs used in the montage.
