Celebrate Pesach
Rock 'n Roll at King David!
Yesterday, the Grade 8 class celebrated the end of term with a Rock 'n Roll concert and stop motion animation screening. After many weeks of exploration in both classes, the performances and videos were highly entertaining. How impressive that we have so much talent!

Stop motion (also known as stop frame) is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence. The Grade 8 students worked for many hours creating their characters and then making the animated video.

ˇFiesta por Perú!
As part of the cultural component of the Spanish program, the Spanish 11 students are organizing a "Fiesta por Perú" on behalf of the Occopata community in the Peruvian Andes. The Spanish 11 students invite you to a special lunch hour fiesta with typical Latin music and a mini Spanish lesson with some essential words needed when traveling to the Hispanic world. Then you can enjoy some English/Spanish karaoke while eating some chips and salsa!

Eden, Sari, Benny, Kira and Lindsay invite you to join them
for a fiesta of fun!

An Alumnus in Israel
Jonathan Raich, King David Graduating Class of 2011, joined the IDF and recently was sworn in as a paratrooper after successfully completing the intensive training in Tsanchanim, Battalion 101. He was also recognized as an exemplary soldier in this elite unit! Kol Ha Kavod, Johnny!

Rachel, Grade 11 conducted an interview with Johnny, via Facebook.

What was it like receiving your beret and pin at the Kotel?

Our first ceremony, called Tekes Hashbaah (swearing in ceremony) was at the Kotel, and at this ceremony we swear on the Tanach and make an oath to do everything to protect the State of Israel and all of its citizens. It was very moving to have it at the Kotel with hundreds of people who came to watch and to be at the place where the paratroopers were captured in the Six Day War.

We then received our berets at Givat Hatachmoshet (Ammunition Hill) which is the site of a very famous battle in which the paratroopers fought and that was also very moving.
