Parents as Teachers
"Dr. Munt made it easy for us to understand the topic of the circulatory system and made it interesting for all of us. He left us with a better understanding of the heart."   ~ Eytan, Grade 8

On Wednesday, the Grade 8 Science class had the opportunity to learn  about the heart from Dr. Brad Munt, Benjamin's father and well-known Vancouver Echo Cardiologist. Dr. Munt works at St Paul's Hospital.

"I enjoyed his talk because it helped me see the wide variety of people involved in medicine."    ~ Benjamin, Grade 8

Alumni as Teachers

A recent alumnus, Ethan Fortes, came back to King David to assist us in our preparation for the upcoming High School debates. He was very informative on our topic and offered suggestions on what the focal points of our argument should be. He also recommended how we could respond to specific questions from our opponents. We look forward to incorporating his ideas into our debate.

A Badeshi (foreigner) in Bangladesh

Dr. Pradinuk
Recently returned from a three month stint at a hospital in Bangladesh, Dr Mia Pradinuk visited Ms. Baloun's Biology 12 class to share her experience. Dr Pradinuk, is currently completing her pediatric residency at BC Children's Hospital.

Kangaroo Care

One of the highlight's of her presentation was hearing about the use of kangaroo care in the hospitals there.

Abby, in Grade 12, is interested in studying medicine and shared the following: " It was so interesting to hear about medicine in Third World countries. The limited resources promotes creative solutions and the lack of incubators for preemie and small newborns, has the doctors using kangaroo care (skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby)  which is proving to be as beneficial."
